3M Hillington offers services to the fastest growing sector of label and identification solutions

The recently reported acquisition of the film manufacturing division of Spectrum & McLaurin by the innovative 3M Corporation has, as expected, brought a number of improvements. Now renamed 3M Hillington, the plant has, with the introduction of 3M cutting edge adhesives technologies and an innovative reconstruction programme, brought together extremely high performance top coatings and 3M world renowned adhesives, creating a synergy which results in outstanding quality products.

Within a short space of time, the facilities at Hillington have seen a rationalisation programme that has increased potential and expanded boundaries in the High Performance Labelstocks sector of the labelling industry. The new Hillington facility incorporates new offices, high-tech laboratories and major changes and improvements have been made to the production capability.

The acquisition is proving to be a very successful venture. Modern printing methods used by end users now dictate that such films as polyesters and polyethylenes are printable with consistently high quality results. Hillington responds to these and other demands, keeping label applications in line with constantly changing technology.

Further planned investment will see greater output capacity keeping 3M Hillington ahead of demand, in the fastest growing sector of label and identification solutions. The resulting increased market share is ensuring continued sustainable growth for this unique Scottish facility.
