Purity with purpose: Clariant Health Care raises the bar for pharmaceutical excipients
Excipients are the backbone of every drug formulation. Though often described as "inactive" ingredients, they determine how an active substance dissolves, stabilizes, and ultimately reaches the patient. As formulation complexity grows and regulatory scrutiny intensifies, the industry has moved well beyond asking whether an excipient meets specification. Formulators and quality assurance teams now demand clarity on impurity profiles, endotoxin levels, elemental impurities, nitrosamine risk, and batch-to-batch consistency.

AddWorks™ PPA 101 FG enables PFAS-free polymer processing in polyolefin extrusion applications
AddWorks PPA 101 FG is a PFAS-free polymer processing aid (PPA) for polyolefin extrusion applications, based on Clariant's proprietary organic material technology. In PE blown and cast films, it solves melt fracture – commonly called sharkskin – and it prevents die build-up. For decades, fluoropolymer-based polymer processing aids have been the standard solution to these challenging production issues but tightening global PFAS regulations and even selective bans in certain regions and applications are the driving forces behind the emerging conventional fluoropolymer technology phase-out. Clariant’s AddWorks PPA 101 FG is suitable for LLDPE based packaging, agricultural, and building & construction film applications amongst others. Unlike fluoropolymer-based PPAs, it contains no PFAS, no silicone, nor inorganic substances, it is non-hazardous and label-free, and holds broad food contact approvals under FDA, EFSA, Mercosur, China GB, and Japanese regulations.

Formulation complexity in wet wipes: The hidden challenge to preservation and how formulators can solve it!
Wet wipes are among the most challenging personal care products to preserve. Their high water activity, repeated consumer exposure, long shelf life and increasingly sophisticated formulations combine to create ideal conditions for microbial growth. Meanwhile, consumers are demanding ever gentler, more multifunctional and environmentally responsible juices for wipes that contain a greater proportion of biodegradable ingredients. As a result, formulators must strike a delicate balance, safeguarding product safety while still driving forward innovative product development.

Why excipients are the unsung heroes of modern medicine
They don't treat disease. They rarely get a mention on a medicine label. Yet without them, most modern therapeutics simply wouldn't work. Pharmaceutical excipients – the ingredients that help an active drug substance dissolve, stabilize, and reach patients safely – sit quietly behind nearly every tablet, injectable, and topical treatment on the market.
