With its FR3 compounds, KRAIBURG TPE is setting new standards for meeting the highest fire safety requirements

KRAIBURG TPE has developed new thermoplastic elastomers for highly effective fire protection. (Image: © 2025 KRAIBURG TPE)With the new FR3 series, KRAIBURG TPE has now developed the third generation of compounds for use in environments that place the highest demands on fire protection. All requirements of the European standard for railway applications DIN EN 45545-2 have been met. In addition to their fire protection properties, TPE compounds in the FR3 series have other material properties that make them ideal for use in demanding environments, such as very good compression set values and improved tear resistance. Since power cables are often installed with multi-component plastic parts, excellent PP adhesion and processing in standard injection molding and extrusion processes are also important.

New TPE with adhesion to polar thermoplastics for applications involving contact with fatty foods

Behind the new TPE there is intensive development work and a deep understanding of the interplay between formulations and the design of end products. (Image: © 2025 KRAIBURG TPE)With its new FC/CM3/AD1 compound series, KRAIBURG TPE meets the requirements of the two most important regulations for food contact applications: European Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 and Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations (21CFR §177.2600) of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The new series was developed specifically for contact with fatty foods and is also characterized by a pleasant feel and improved organoleptic properties. Target applications include reusable food packaging, cosmetic applications, and hoses and conveyor belts in food processing.

KRAIBURG TPE sets strong accents in the development of new compounds for food contact and fire protection environments

New materials for food contact applications and further developments in the field of flame retardancy are the product highlights at K 2025 from KRAIBURG TPE.
(Image: © 2025 KRAIBURG TPE)Soon after it was founded in 1952, the “K” established itself as the world's leading trade fair for the manufacture and processing of plastics and rubber. The extensive three-year cycle in which it has been held ever since ensures an enormously high density of information and innovation within the overall show of exhibits on display there. Expectations are correspondingly high when Düsseldorf hosts around 180,000 trade fair visitors in “K fever” in the second week of October 2025! KRAIBURG TPE has already been preparing for this for several months. 150 square meters of the approximately 175,000 square meters of exhibitor space will once again be reserved for the TPE manufacturer from Waldkraiburg on the renowned “Gummistraße” (with stand location “Hall 6, booth #C58-03”).

Sustainability par excellence: EcoVadis awards KRAIBURG TPE with gold medal

The demand for ultrasoft TPEs has been increasing across various industrial sectors. The reasons for this are obvious. Whether they are intended for key products such as orthopedic equipment or applications in prosthetics – their particularly soft surface feel, combined with a soft grip, make the compounds particularly suitable for a variety of application segments. KRAIBURG TPE is now meeting these requirements globally.

Reducing material density, strengthening the sustainability factor: KRAIBURG TPE introduces Lightweight TPE with a high proportion of recycled content

Substituting standard thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) with light TPEs with recycled content opens up a wide range of options.
(Image: © 2024 KRAIBURG TPE)Industry demand for lightweight materials that have properties comparable to those of conventional materials in their specific application environments has been increasing by leaps and bounds in recent years. The replacement of conventional thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) by Lightweight TPEs with recycled content plays a central role here. Lightweight TPEs provide wide-ranging options and unique materials parameters.

Recycling Content TPE for handle surfaces for Hilti tools

KRAIBURG TPE meets the exacting standards for surfaces: 57% recycled content and the best grip and adhesion properties. (Image: © 2024 Hilti)By developing Recycling Content TPE with excellent adhesion to PA, Hilti and KRAIBURG TPE have now successfully expanded their partnership to also include projects with focus on sustainability. The starting point for expanding a more than two decades long collaboration was the increasing emphasis that both companies put on the expansion of sustainable strategies and initiatives – especially where these can be incorporated into the development of new products and product components on a larger scale. As part of the Supplier Recognition Model, KRAIBURG TPE also receives the “Distinguished Honors – Special Products” award from Hilti.
