Introduction of three new Double Coated Tapes makes 3M's range more competitive
Opening the way to greater performance choice in the marketplace, 3M™ has given Europe-wide introduction to three newly developed Acrylic Double Coated Tapes, 9786, 9832, and 9039. These additions to the product line complete the company’s portfolio with multipurpose tapes designed to provide improved cost-efficiency and performance.
Based on 300MP and 300 high tack acrylic adhesive to give immediate, reliable bonding to a wide variety of substrates including foams, plastics, stainless steel, foil and felt, each of the new Double Coated Tapes also offer individual advantages in particular applications.
3M 9786 tape is delivered on a thin non-woven carrier for dimensional stability and improved handling. With a thickness of 140 microns it bonds well to open cell foam, felt and plastics, and gives long-term temperature performance at up to 93°C. A polycoated Kraft liner permits ease of handling during assembly operations, and is printed with a green 3M logo to enable easy identification.
3M 9832 tape on a PET carrier meets all general purpose requirements. At 122 microns this tape gives high adhesion to foams, plastics, stainless steel, felt and fabrics, and offers long-term temperature performance up to 66°C. It is identified by a brown unprinted polycoated Kraft liner. If increased lay-flat and moisture stability properties are needed, this tape can be delivered on a heavier Kraft liner.
3M 9039 tape, also delivered on a PET carrier, has a thickness of 77 microns and bonds well with low surface energy substrates, as well as foams, metal, plastics and film. Giving long-term temperature performance at 65°C, this tape comes on an unprinted White Densified Kraft liner.
By progressively developing new products that offer enhanced performance in combination with competitive pricing, such as the new Acrylic Double Coated Tapes, as well as more conveniently packaged quantities, 3M aims to simplify the supply chain for converters by providing a single source able to deliver adhesive solutions to meet all their application needs.
