Five new 3M Scotch-Weld adhesives for large volumes
For large volume applications, 3M now offers five new impact resistant 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ two-component, epoxy-based structural adhesives in the 72xx B/A series.
They are suitable for bonding numerous materials and combine high adhesion with good chemical resistance. All five products cure at room temperature.
The 3M Scotch-Weld 7240 B/A FR (Flame Retardant) two-component structural adhesive can be used for the high-strength, durable and impact resistant bonding of steel, aluminium or fibre composite materials such as SMC or pultrudate.
This halogen-free product with flame-retardant properties due to specific formulation allows uniform glue joint thickness. It has a working time of 45 minutes and becomes hard to the touch after about five hours.
High strength, even at high temperatures, and good aging resistance are the distinguishing features of the 3M Scotch-Weld 7260 B/A two-component structural adhesive. Even with minimal preparation of the material surfaces it achieves outstanding adhesion to metals and adheres well to many other surfaces. It can be worked for up to eight hours and becomes hard to the touch after 18 hours.
A variant on the last is the 3M Scotch-Weld 7260 B/A NS (Non Sag) two-component structural adhesive. This non-flowing product is particularly suitable for work on vertical surfaces or for gap filling. When used as a reinforcing filler, it also shows high pressure resistance.
For rapid setting, there is the 3M Scotch-Weld 7260 B/A FC (Fast Cure) two-component structural adhesive. With a working time of only 90 minutes, this product is hard to the touch and has good peel and sheer strength.
This time can be shortened by heating. There is also a non-flowing variant of the fast-setting two-component structural adhesive, 3M Scotch-Weld 7260 B/A FC NS.
3M and Scotch-Weld are trademarks of the 3M Company.
