ARLANXEO: New Rubber Technology Center further strengthens market position in China

Changzhou, December 15, 2016 – ARLANXEO, a global leader in synthetic elastomers, today opened its state-of-the-art Rubber Technology Centre (RTC) in Changzhou, China. With the most advanced analytical testing capabilities to date, the RTC is located within the premises of ARLANXEO’s state-of-the-art EPDM plant, and is one of ARLANXEO's global rubber testing centers.

Dormagen / Maastricht - ARLANXEO raises its prices for Chloroprene rubber and Chloroprene adhesive grades (CR) in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia. The price adjustments per metric ton for CR is up to 200 EUR or 230 USD and will be effective November 15, 2016. The measure is the result of the overall market- and cost developments of the past months.

The update will lead to significant product improvements and an extension of the Keltan® product range of ARLANXEO. The company will have invested a total of $34 million over the last 3 years in its facility in Orange. “The Orange plant is of key importance for ARLANXEO in the US, and is a key element of our global network of production operations in four countries across North and South America, Europe, and China,” says Jim Francis, Manager Keltan® Manufacturing at ARLANXEO.

The plant, which started up in 2015 and has a nameplate capacity of 160,000 metric tonnes / year is producing the full range of products as envisaged at start-up, including high and low Mooney grades. Customers have evaluated, approved and successfully applied the products from the plant.

The application of this new technology to both styrene butadiene rubber (S-SBR) and functionalized butadiene rubber - in particular neodymium catalyzed butadiene rubber (Nd-BR) – increases the interaction with fillers, helping to improve the dynamic properties of tire tread compounds.
