AVERY DENNISON’S REVOLUTIONARY THINSTREAM™ TECHNOLOGY ENABLES DIE-CUTTING OF LINER TWICE AS THIN AS MARKET MINIMUM
LEIDEN, the Netherlands — 28 September 2011 — A revolutionary new die-cutting technology, called Avery Dennison ThinStream™, developed by pressure-sensitive label material manufacturer Avery Dennison, allows the die-cutting of labels with a liner as thin as 12 microns, half of the current minimum in the market. ThinStream technology also eliminates die strikes, one of the industry’s top quality concerns. The patented technology for ThinStream has been licensed to the Gallus Group, which has created the Gallus Cold Die Unit to accomplish this major advance in die-cutting technology.
AVERY DENNISON PLACES THINSTREAM™ TECHNOLOGY WITH LEADING CONVERTERS IN EUROPE AND NORTH AMERICA
LEIDEN, the Netherlands — 28 September 2011 — Avery Dennison and Gallus announce that Eurostampa Industria Grafica s.p.a. in Bene Vagienna, Italy, will be the first recipient of a Gallus Cold Die Unit with Avery Dennison ThinStream™ technology. Eurostampa is a family-run business focusing on wine and spirits, ready to drink containers, chocolate, food, beer, cosmetics, mineral waters, tubes and cartons.
NEW GLOBAL MDO FILM LAMINATE SETS NEW STANDARD FOR THE HOME AND PERSONAL CARE MARKET
LEIDEN, the Netherlands — 28 September 2011 — Avery Dennison is introducing Global MDO - the latest addition to its innovative Machine Direction Oriented (MDO) film product line. The new film laminate bridges the gap between the high-performing MDO film range and PE85 film and features major productivity and sustainability improvements -- including a significant reduction in web breaks, up to 50 percent less ooze, an inherently printable film and double the amount of labels per roll -- balanced with the on-shelf label clarity demanded for Home and Personal Care applications.
SHRINKING WITHOUT WRINKLING
LEIDEN, the Netherlands — 5 September 2011 — A new brand-enhancing pressure-sensitive labeling solution for meat and dairy packaging applications is being introduced by Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials (LPM) at Labelexpo 2011. The patent-pending product, called Avery Dennison Shrink PS, is engineered to survive the vacuum-shrink process without wrinkling, providing both shelf appeal and production-related benefits.
AVERY DENNISON SOLVES SECONDARY LABELING CHALLENGES OF BLOOD HANDLING
LEIDEN, the Netherlands — 28 September 2011 — Applying self-adhesive labels to frozen surfaces can be a challenge. Applying self-adhesive labels onto frozen wrinkled blood plasma bags, which have stringent adhesive requirements, can be even trickier. To address these challenges, Avery Dennison is launching the Avery Dennison Plasma Bag Label - a special label construction which significantly reduces the chances of plasma bag labels failing and makes ice removal unnecessary for blood banks and hospitals.
AVERY DENNISON LAUNCHES THIN CONFORMABLE PE FILM LABEL FOR THE FOOD INDUSTRY
LEIDEN, the Netherlands — 28 September 2011 — Among the innovations that Avery Dennison is introducing at Labelexpo is the thinnest conformable PE film label available today for the food market. Fasson PE-LG, with a 70-micron face stock and a new high-tack adhesive, provides benefits for brand owners and label printers in the form of increased shelf appeal and performance and a strong price/performance ratio.
AVERY DENNISON LAUNCHES ‘BETTER-THAN-THE-ORIGINAL’ SELF-ADHESIVE MEDALLIONS
LEIDEN, the Netherlands — 28 September 2011 — Selective wine and spirits brands use three-dimensional solid metallic cartouches and medallions to emphasize the exclusive, luxurious and authentic character of their product. However, this popular packaging component requires manual application and is rather expensive. Picking up the challenge, Avery Dennison has developed a better looking, cost-effective and automatic dispensing self-adhesive application: the unique Fasson Silver Foil Emboss.
AVERY DENNISON CURVE APPEAL™ SYSTEM GIVES WRAPAROUND LOOK FOR COMPLEX CURVED CONTAINERS
LEIDEN — 30 August 2011 — For the first time at Labelexpo Europe, the Avery Dennison Curve Appeal™ system and Fasson Curvy™ film will be introduced to booth visitors. This unique machine and label combination creates a wraparound look with the shelf appeal of pressure-sensitive graphics. The technology and material allows it to handle more complex container shapes and delivers up to 30 percent more space for primary labeling.
