EXTENSIONS TO FASSON RAPID-ROLL OPEN INDUSTRIAL MARKETS TO THE CONVERTER
Siliconized papers and films give the narrow-web converter the opportunity to explore a host of niches, beyond labels alone. Their uses stretch from medical and industrial applications, to hygiene and envelopes - to name but a few. Until now though, the lack of a reliable service for these materials has kept such areas of business elusive to most potential market players.
Fasson Rapid-Roll, the product range where non-adhesive reel products are offered at short notice and in small volumes, has the solution to help converters enter these markets profitably. It has added a large number of machine-glazed Kraft liners and PE-coated papers to its Industrial Liners program.
Machine-glazed Kraft paper is a specially coated machine finished paper. Its smooth surface and high quality lends itself perfectly to applications like envelopes, hygiene products, decorative vinyls, window coverings, labels and industrial uses.
PE Coated paper has a polyethylene coating on one or both sides, to enhance the barrier properties of the paper surface. This reduces the chance of moisture being absorbed from the environment, and thus maintains the paper’s dimensional stability. As a result, PE Coated paper in this range is ideal for medical products, adhesive tapes and envelopes.
These new siliconized papers withstand the most demanding of environments, where speed is often an important issue. They have excellent machine processing and die-cutting properties, as well as hygroscopic and dimensional stability.
The additions of the machine-glazed and PE-coated products significantly strengthen the Industrial Liners range, which also comprises a range of clay-coated and glassine papers, as well as a number of siliconized PP and PET films.
Since converting and end-use conditions differ significantly from one application to the next, all papers in the Industrial Range are produced in a wide variety of grades, in order to meet specific demands with regard to release properties, weight, and thickness.
In addition to this, numerous custom-finished solutions are available. The silicone coating can be specified according to defined release properties; double sided silicone-coating is possible on Glassine paper, with differing release properties on each side, if necessary. Custom-slit widths are available, from 12 mm for single-coated, and from 100 mm for double coated materials. To meet end-user branding requirements, products can also be supplied pre-printed with logos or company names; siliconized products can be printed with single colour flexo either on the reverse side or underneath the coating.
All stocked items in the Rapid-Roll product range, including the siliconized papers are available in quantities from just 1.000m². Lead-times are fast: Fasson Rapid-Roll offers a 48-hour shipping service ex works on stocked standard items and a four-week lead time on custom-finished products. Converters relying on the product range therefore can be very flexible when offering a host of non-adhesive solutions to the market. Customers can order Fasson Rapid-Roll products online, through the website, www.rapid-roll.com, once the customer has signed up to the Fasson Advantage service programme. Registration is possible, free of charge, through the Fasson website, www.europe.fasson.com.
There are numerous finishing possibilities, papers and films to choose from. As a result, up to 180 products are possible within the range. With such a wealth of options, the selection process may seem a daunting one; however, thanks to Fasson’s technical consultants, help is always at hand. Martin Hilgenstock, Product Manager, explains: “We believe that partnership is the way for the converters and their customers to achieve constant improvement, in both productivity and quality. And Fasson has a constant commitment to creating improvements in the value chain. In the case of Fasson Rapid-Roll, Fasson’s technicians analyse both the end-use and processing requirements, to find the bespoke product that
