FASSON LABELS ON GREENLAND SHOWER GELS ARE NATURAL WINNERS
Leiden, The Netherlands -- Labels from leading Dutch narrow-web printers Kolibri Etikettenfabriek on Fasson PE85 White film labelstock are enhancing the packaging for an international range of high-end shower gels. The visual impact of the labels has also enabled Kolibri, of ’s-Heerenberg, to scoop two major prizes in the prestigious annual International Label Competition organised by the self-adhesive label industry’s international association, FINAT: the overall group prize for marketing/end use labels as well as the category prize for the best cosmetics labels.
Kolibri were recognised for a series of self-adhesive labels on the ‘squeezy tubes’ used by leading Netherlands bodycare products manufacturers Greenland BV of Wateringen, for their 100% natural ‘Fruit Extracts’ shower gels. Greenland have an established reputation across Europe for high-quality products based on natural substances, and they believe in matching the quality of their packaging to the quality of their products.
The clean, classic perfection of the label designs which Greenland submitted to Kolibri, which were based on superb photographic renditions of the fruits used in the product formulations, certainly represented a challenge in print terms – but one which Kolibri were happy to take up. Says Kolibri’s General Manager, Jan Frederik Vink: ‘For just such occasions, we established a Competence Centre in our plant last year which contains everything we need to make feasibility samples for our clients, and establish the optimal label production specification in terms of both technical and aesthetic qualities. We have proofing presses for letterpress, screen process, and hot foil; an ink mixing system for every imaginable colour; and a reference bank of over 140 standard Fasson labelstocks so we can deliver proofs to our clients. We can also call on Avery Dennison for “specials” in the Fasson range whenever we need them – and receive them quickly. Our working relationship with them stretches back 40 years, and the depth of their experience, and the high levels of product quality never disappoint.
‘In the case of Greenland Fruit Extracts, our Competence Centre – working with Fasson technicians – researched and identified the ideal solution for labels on products that demanded and deserved real excellence.’
The Greenland Fruit Extracts shower gel labels were printed on Fasson PE85 White with S692N adhesive and BG40 White supercalendered glassine liner. This highly-flexible blown, co-extruded corona-treated polyethylene film has proved itself in the cosmetics, toiletries, and household chemicals market on all plastics packaging – particularly squeezable tubes. Kolibri used rotary letterpress four-colour process print, adding UV flexo varnishing for extra protection of the labels on these ‘bathroom’ products.
Kolibri Etikettenfabriek are known in the international arena for high-quality self-adhesive label print, and were honoured in the FINAT Label Competition last year for labels on another premium product – Petrikov vodka – also on Fasson self-adhesive labelstock.
