AVERY DENNISON APPOINTS CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR EUROPE

Leiden, The Netherlands - Erwin Zijlstra (37) has been appointed Corporate Communications Director, Europe, for Avery Dennison Corporation -- a Fortune 500 company and global leader in pressure-sensitive technology and materials science.

In this newly-created role, Mr Zijlstra will be responsible for corporate communications across Europe. Based in The Netherlands, he will initially focus on developing and implementing communications programmes in support of corporate goals and vision within the business-to-business divisions European Roll Materials, Graphics and Reflective Products, and Specialty Tape.

Mr Zijlstra brings an extensive portfolio of communications experience to his new post. He joins Avery Dennison from the information technology services company Unisys, where he held several senior positions in communications management -- most recently Communications Programmes Director for Europe and Marketing Manager for The Netherlands. He has also held positions in several marketing and public relations agencies in The Netherlands.

The creation of this key new position within Avery Dennison reflects an increased focus on improving external and internal communication and driving awareness for the Corporation’s global brands. In addition to key relationships with business leadership teams across Europe, Erwin will work with Avery Dennison marketing and communication professionals around the world.

Erwin Zijlstra is a graduate from the former Academy of Journalism in Zwolle (HICO), The Netherlands, with a degree in Mass Communication and Public Relations.
