AVERY DENNISON EXPANDS ITS EUROPEAN FSC®-CERTIFIED LABEL PORTFOLIO

LEIDEN, the Netherlands - October 14, 2013 - Avery Dennison is once again expanding its Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC)-certified portfolio of paper label materials available in Europe.

Expanding our FSC-certified portfolio reinforces Avery Dennison’s commitment to offer more sustainable label and packaging solutions and is an important next step in our effort to make our industry more sustainable.”

Since the beginning of this year, Avery Dennison has added more than 50 new FSC-certified label materials to its product portfolio. The portfolio now totals more than 150 different constructions, with more expected before the end of the year, that will feature core face stocks used in food, wine, spirits and dairy applications.

The new additions to the portfolio are price-neutral compared with competing non-FSC-certified products. The FSC Chain-of-Custody process ensures the customer that the materials in the products they purchase are coming from responsibly managed sources. The new additions to the Avery Dennison portfolio will help drive the use of these products throughout the value chain.

Avery Dennison is one of 24,000 FSC Chain-of-Custody (CoC) certified companies, able to meet the requirements of what is acknowledged to be the most rigorous, credible forest certification system.

The Forest Stewardship Council was founded in 1993 to stop illegal logging and uncontrolled destruction of key environmental resources. Its mission today is to promote environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically prosperous management of the world’s forests. The FSC-certification process follows the trail of the products from forests through the entire supply chain, and verifies that certified materials are identified or separated from non-certified material at all stages.
