Belden Offers First Complete Connector Portfolio From its Lumberg Automation Brand for All Ethernet-based Protocols

Flexible solutions for consistent data transmission from field to management level

Schalksmühle, Germany - July 2, 2013 - Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, is now offering the first complete connector portfolio in its Lumberg Automation product range for all Ethernet-based protocols. This portfolio includes field-attachable M12 and RJ45 connectors and installation variants, as well as single- and double-ended standard molded connector versions. It supports not only PROFINET and Ethernet/IP, but also EtherCat and Sercos.

Depending on their type, the connectors are available with 360-degree shielding, an operating temperature range from -40°C to +90°C, a high level of shock and vibration resistance, and industrial protection class IP67, IP68 and IP69K. In addition, various data and control cables are offered by the meter. The connector portfolio thus allows flexible solutions – regardless of the respective Ethernet protocol – for consistent data transmission from field and control level to management level.

The X-coded M12 connectors, similar to the RJ45 types, support data rates of up to 10 Gbit/s. The D-coded variants support rates of up to 100 Mbit/s. Versions with special shielding that extend from the housing to the contacts also guarantee reliable data transmission, even where there are strong electromagnetic fields.

The connector housings are made of TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane). The standard molded connector versions are available in lengths of 2, 3, 5 or 10 m with a jacket of PUR (polyurethane), PVC (polyvinyl chloride) or FRNC (Flame Retardant Non Corrosive). They are resistant to oils, coolants, lubricants and emulsions, and in part torsion resistant, approved for use in trains (DIN EN 50155) or UL-certified.

With the Ethernet connector portfolio from its Lumberg Automation product range, Belden is offering complete wiring solutions from a single source. "This applies irrespective of whether the data is transmitted via PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, EtherCat or Sercos," says product manager Christoph Widmann. "Our portfolio also allows users planning reliability and simple stockpiling."
