Belden Sets Standards Again at SPS IPC Drives 2013
Innovative products and services for highly efficient automation networks
Neckartenzlingen - 9 October 2013 - Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, is presenting new products and services at SPS IPC Drives (hall 10, booth 120). As well as enhancing the productivity of systems and machines, these innovations – such as the new railway-approved Cat 7 Ethernet data cable – can also be used to implement additional applications. Innovations from the Hirschmann product range at the fair include a new version of the Industrial HiVision network management software, the OpenOCTOPUS online configurator, and HiLCOS 8.8 WLAN firmware. A further highlight is the 24x7 Technical Support Plan, a worldwide all-round service for networks. New products from the Lumberg Automation product range also being showcased at the Nuremberg event include ruggedized I/O modules from the LioN-R series for Profibus DP.
Industrial HiVision
Release 5.0 of the Industrial HiVision network management software, with its HiFusion tool, sets new standards in terms of network transparency and data communication availability:
• All SNMP-enabled network infrastructure and terminal equipment can be integrated, along with any device-specific properties.
• Thanks to MultiConfig, the same parameters can be configured simultaneously for multiple devices, both when commissioning the system and during subsequent live operation.
• The network topology, including unmanaged switches and hubs, is automatically recognized and accurately visualized.
OpenOCTOPUS
The OpenOCTOPUS online configurator enables the configuration of the ideal OCTOPUS switch for any individual application from over 30 water- and dust-resistant IP67/65/54 versions, thus also ensuring an excellent price-performance ratio.
• The online configurator permits rapid selection of the switch that best suits any individual application scenario.
• With over 30 different versions, the OCTOPUS family provides a high degree of flexibility.
• All configurable variants ensure cost-effective data communication solutions in harsh industrial environments.
HiLCOS 8.8
The new HiLCOS 8.8 WLAN firmware, which can be installed on all BAT access points and BAT controllers, opens up a new range of options for using radio communication in the field of automation.
• IPv6 routing guarantees future-proof communication via public WLAN networks.
• Innovative frequency management ensures maximum WLAN performance.
• Frequency analyses in the 2.4 GHz band identify any possible interference from other wireless devices.
Technical Support Plan
The 24x7 Technical Support Plan significantly increases the availability of Ethernet networks based on Hirschmann or GarrettCom equipment, and enhances the productivity of business processes.
• Immediate and comprehensive support means that faults can be resolved quickly or even prevented in advance, for instance if the network has switched over to redundant operation as a result of an error.
• Support is available around the clock, 365 days a year.
• An annual lump sum payment lets the user precisely calculate and budget for twelve months at a time, bringing a greater degree of security to their planning.
LioN-R modules
Thanks to their robust design and optimum functional dependability, the active I/O modules in the LioN-R series for Profibus DP guarantee reliable data communication even under the toughest environmental conditions. They are available with 16 digital input/output channels or with a combination of eight of each.
• Combined with the Easy Diagnostic system, the galvanic separation between the sensor/actuator channels and Profibus brings maximum availability of systems and machines.
• Die-cast zinc housing and short-circuit proof outputs ensure mechanical stability and functional reliability.
• Standardized M12 connection technology boosts efficiency by reducing wiring complexity and simplifying rapid system expansion.
Ethernet data cable
The BE43802 Belden data cable is currently the only railway-approved Cat 7 product on the market that complies with class TX (EN 50155:2007) heat-resistance requirements. It also provides extra bandwidth for additional Ethernet applications that can bring enhanced comfort and safety to passengers.
• The Ethernet data cable supports data rates of up to 10 Gbit/s.
• Train manufacturers and operators benefit from higher system performance, lower costs, and extended functionality.
• This new data cable has been specially developed for railway industry applications and complies with all the required standards.
