Belden Offers Two New Lines of Switches for Cost-Effective Data Transfer

Hirschmann’s SPIDER III Unmanaged Switches Meet Diverse Industrial Network Needs, from Entry-Level to Full-Featured

St. Louis, Missouri - May 13, 2016 - Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, has launched a new line of unmanaged switches – the SPIDER III family. The SPIDER III switches utilize Hirschmann’s latest technology, and depending on the specific needs of industrial networks, customers can select from the Standard or Premium Lines. Both lines deliver reliable communication in harsh environments.

“We know each of our customer’s networks and applications is unique, depending on industry, size and many other factors. With the SPIDER III family, they have the ability to select an entry-level switch or choose a switch that’s extremely robust and customizable. It all depends on the unique needs and priorities of their network,” said Sebastian Preiss, product manager for Hirschmann.

The SPIDER III family of switches enables network administrators to reliably transmit data across long distances, while remaining cost-effective. The plug-and-play capabilities also make them easy to install and maintain. Specific benefits of the two lines include:

  • SPIDER III Standard Line – Designed for machine builders in the automation market, the standard switches provide an entry-level, cost-effective option. These compactly-sized devices offer up to eight Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet ports to accommodate future data and speed requirements.

  • SPIDER III Premium Line – For networks with unique or evolving needs, the SPIDER III Premium Line offers robust, completely customizable features. Customers can configure some switching parameters via a USB port by utilizing an easy-to-use, free software tool. To enable its use in more markets, the premium switches are housed in a highly ruggedized metal casing with an optional protective coating and meet additional industry standards and certifications.
The SPIDER III switches are ideal for use in manufacturing, machine building, solar power and traffic control industries. The Premium Line also offers specific features to meet the approvals needed for use in the process automation, transportation and marine industries.
