New Borealis biaxially oriented polypropylene reduces weight and improves transparency of plastic bottles

New Borealis biaxially oriented polypropylene reduces weight and improves transparency of plastic bottles The new Borealis RF926MO polypropylene (PP) injection stretch blow moulding (ISBM) grade provides enhanced performance owing to its biaxial orientation. The new grade can reduce weight by more than 30% compared with extrusion blow-moulded high-density polyethylene (HDPE) grades. The new PP grade provides excellent transparency and gloss levels, can save up to 30 to 50% on energy costs in production, and RF926MO’s processing window is significantly broader than other PP materials.

Automakers adopt new scratch-resistant TPOs from Borealis for car interiors

With the introduction of Borealis thermoplastic olefin grades (TPOs) EE137AE and EE137HP, Borealis has created an innovative, scratch-resistant injection-moulding compound specifically designed for automotive interiors and similar demanding applications With the introduction of Borealis thermoplastic olefin grades, (TPOs) EE137AE and EE137HP, Borealis has created an innovative, scratch-resistant injection-moulding compound specifically designed for automotive interiors and similar demanding applications. The scratch-resistant nature of the polypropylene (PP) compounds is the result of engineering as much performance as possible into the base resin while minimising fillers and additives. In addition, the remaining fillers and additives benefit from proprietary formulations to further enhance properties of the new grades.

Borstar® PE materials bring added value to the utility and industrial pipe sectors

AEM Gas renovating a steel gas pipe in the centre of Milan using 400mm SDR11 pipe produced from Borstar ME3441 by Idrotherm 2000 SpA Since its introduction, polyethylene (PE) from Borealis’ proprietary Borstar® process has set the industry standard for pipeline construction in technical performance and delivered value to the pipe producers, pipeline installers, operators and end users.

New single-site catalyst polyethylene from Borealis for packaging film

Borecene and Borealis’ Borstar technology-based (bi-modal) BorPlus™ have been designed to create new packaging options for all major segments of the fast-growing SSC PE market. Two new families of single-site catalysts (SSC) polyethylene (PE) from Borealis, based on unimodal and Borealis’ bimodal Borstar® technology, have been designed to create new packaging options for all major segments of the fast-growing SSC PE market. With Borecene®, Borealis marks its entry into the unimodal SSC LLDPE blown and cast film market. The bi-modal SSC BorPlus™ offers uniquely superior processability.

Borealis expands polypropylene plant and Noretyl JV cracker in Norway

Borealis will expand its Noretyl ethylene cracker, a 50:50 joint venture with Hydro Polymers at Rafnes with 100,000 tonnes, and debottleneck its own polypropylene plant at Rønningen. The two Norwegian projects will be completed in the autumn of 2005.

Borealis increases European polyolefins prices by EUR 100 per tonne

Borealis announced today that it will increase the price of its polyethylene and polypropylene plastics in Europe by EUR 100 per tonne as of July 1, 2004.

Borealis 2004 innovations for Wire & Cable: Materials for high productivity, lower costs, better performance

Borealis' new Borcell PE cellular compounds are optimised to generate uniform and evenly distributed cells, which enhances transmission properties. In addition, improved flow properties, melt elasticity and purity ensure the cable producer superior processing allowing high line speeds in combination with minimised capacitance variations. The first half of 2004 has been marked by four innovations from Borealis for the wire and cable industry:

Borealis, one of the world’s leading plastics suppliers

Borealis is a leading supplier of enhanced polyolefin plastics - polyethylene and polypropylene - producing more than 3.5 million tonnes per year.
