Change in Borealis ownership structure underpins future growth
The International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) of Abu Dhabi and OMV Aktiengesellschaft of Austria have announced today their agreement to purchase Statoil’s 50% shareholding in Borealis A/S. As a result, the new Borealis ownership will be 65% IPIC and 35% OMV. Statoil will continue as a major long-term feedstock supplier to Borealis. Dr. Gerhard Roiss, Deputy CEO of OMV, will be the Chairman of Borealis A/S. Closing of the transaction is expected during the fourth quarter once regulatory approvals are received.

Borealis reports steadily improving results in first quarter 2005

Borealis committed to reduce CO2 emissions by using natural gas in Stenungsund, Sweden
Borealis AB, DONG Sweden and Nova Naturgas jointly announced today at a press conference the signature of a deal between DONG Sweden and Borealis to provide natural gas to Borealis in Stenungsund. Under the agreement, 35 million cubic metres of natural gas per year – enough to heat approximately 20,000 houses – will be delivered through a pipeline from the North Sea in Denmark to Sweden.

Borealis achieves major increase in operating profit to EUR 278 million for 2004
Borealis today announced its fourth quarter results, reporting an operating profit of EUR 104 million for the quarter. The result compared positively to the EUR 24 million achieved in the same quarter of 2003, benefiting from improved operations and higher industry margins.

Borealis polypropylene chosen for heating and air conditioning pipe installation in La Scala refit
Milan, Italy’s world-famous La Scala opera house will reopen on December 7 after the completion of a massive renovation project that has kept its curtains closed for almost three years. Spectators will be kept in more comfort than ever before, thanks in part to the installation of a new heating and air conditioning system that uses plastic pipes and fittings made from Borealis polypropylene. The existing metal pipe installation has been entirely replaced.
