Borealis invests EUR 90 million to further develop its polypropylene business

Borealis will invest EUR 65 million in SchwechatBorealis, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, will invest EUR 25 million to expand the capacity of its PP plant in Porvoo, Finland, by 65,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) to 220,000 tpa by the end of 2008. The increased capacity will meet rapidly growing customer demand for innovative plastics solutions in the pipe and advanced packaging markets and better supply the developing Russian market.

Harald Hammer appointed Chief Executive of Borouge marketing companyBorealis Film and Fibre Vice President Harald Hammer has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Borouge Pte Ltd as of January 1, 2007, replacing Hubert Puchner. Puchner, who after five years of leading Borouge through a period of strong growth, will take up the post of Executive Vice President of AgroLinz Melamine International (AMI) in Linz, Austria, managing the company’s global melamine business. He will remain a member of the Borouge Board.

OMV and IPIC each hold 50% of AMI. The final decision will be made in the course of the first half of 2007.

Borouge awards approximately USD 1.3 billion Borouge 2 Cracker (EU2) Contract to Linde Engineering

Borealis increases price of its polypropylene based products for European automotive and appliances businesses

Borealis announced today that it will increase the price of its polypropylene based products used in automotive and appliances applications in Europe by 50 EUR/per tonne as of 1st January, 2007. The increase comes on top of the future price development of propylene.

Borealis starts with expansion of its Innovation Centre in Linz –Upper Austria to become a centre of international plastics research

Borealis, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, recently announced the start of its expansion of its Innovation Centre located at the Chemiepark in Linz. This development project begins with the dismantling of an older building which will serve as the site of a newly planned facility. The project, which begun on November 6, 2006, reflects the company’s decision to develop the Linz based centre as the hub of its international research activities.
