Borealis wins ‘Supplier of the Year’ award from Lenzing Plastics

Leading European polyolefin supplier, Borealis, has been awarded the Supplier of the Year 2001 accolade by Lenzing Plastics. The award, which was given to the Borealis cast and blown film team at the company’s Austrian facility at Linz, was based on the fulfilment of a range of fixed criteria. These included measurements determining excellence of technical support, frequency and productiveness of sales support contracts, growth of polyolefin portfolio, level of market knowledge and developmental competence.

Borealis has worked with Lenzing Plastics for more than 20 years, developing a relationship of trust as well as mutually beneficial business. This combination of expertise has resulted in pioneering achievements like the development and commercial introduction of a PP block copolymer for film applications.

The product programme of Lenzing Plastics, which is a daughter company of the world-leading Austrian viscose fibre manufacturer Lenzing AG, comprises technical films including foamed films and identification tapes, packaging film, high-strength woven fabrics, technical composites for construction and PTFE products like yarns for braided packings or filaments and fibers for hot gas filtration and dental floss. Borealis is a key supplier into Lenzing’s MOPP film as well as its foamed PP films and LDPE packaging films.

Accepting the Lenzing award at a ceremony on 28 February, Herman Heinemann, Manfred Kirchberger, Irmgard Hofer and Anton Wolfsberger received a specially commissioned sculpture created by a local artist to mark Borealis’ achievement.
