Borouge high performance polyolefins applications on show at Chinaplas 2006
Borouge will be putting its high performance polyolefin business on show at Chinaplas, Asia’s largest international exhibition for the plastics & rubber Industries, in Shanghai from 26 to 29 April 2006. Located in Hall W3, Booth C03 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong, Borouge will showcase how the high performance polyethylene (PE) produced by its plant in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, UAE can be applied in three distinct sectors: packaging, pipes and wire & cable.
In addition, it will be holding High Performance Packaging and Pipe Seminars on 27 April 2006 (2.30 to 4.30 pm) in Room M5, outside Hall W3, in response to the high level of customer interest in the capabilities of its materials.
The Borstar® Technology process, which is central to Borouge’s competitive edge, produces innovative bimodal products which combine good processability with excellent mechanical properties, making them stronger, lighter, more environmentally friendly and easier processed than conventional PE, resulting in material savings of up to 30%. They are used for the manufacture of high performance plastic packaging, high-pressure pipes and the coating of steel pipelines.
In addition, Borouge distributes a range of Borealis’ speciality grades for wire & cable and other industry applications. Products launched in recent months include:
• Bormed™, a family of dedicated healthcare polyolefins, comprising PP, low density polyethylene (LDPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) grades precisely tailored for the injection and blow moulding of medical devices as well as pharmaceutical and diagnostics packaging.
• Nepol™ GB600HP-9502, was designed for use in combination with specially developed dilution PP BJ100HP reactor compound, will be especially relevant in the automotive industry where dilution technology is widely used in the injection moulding of load bearing parts such as carriers for front-ends, instrument panels and for side door modules.
• Borcoat™ polypropylene coating is another innovative material that is providing essential thermal insulation for the flowlines and risers serving the deep water Thunder Horse Field in the Gulf of Mexico.
• Borcell™ cellular compound concept meets the insulation challenge of radio frequency cables of the increasingly higher operating frequency of 3G mobile phone antenna cables. This new combination of Borcell™ products provides good insulation together with lower signal attenuation than has been possible with previous cellular materials.
