Borouge showcases its high performance Wire & Cable applications at wire & Tube China 2006
Borouge will be showcasing its high performance Wire & Cable solutions at wire & Tube China 2006 – the world's biggest trade fair for wire and cable, and tube manufacturing and processing technologies – to be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong from 25 to 28 September 2006.
Located in Hall E2, Booth C04, Borouge will demonstrate how its Borstar® Enhanced Polyethylene (PE) and range of products, sourced from one of its owners, Borealis A/S, addresses the specific needs of Wire & Cable manufacturers. Borouge is the exclusive source of Borealis’ speciality polyolefins in the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Borealis has more than 40 years of experience in providing high-quality polyolefin compounds to the wire and cable market and is the world leader in this market segment.
Powering Zhengzhou with Superclean™ and Supersmooth™
For Chinese cable producer Prysmian Baosheng, Borealis crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation and semi conductive materials – exclusively supplied by Borouge – meets the Zhengzhou Electric Bureau’s need for a smooth, uninterrupted power supply to Zhengzhou City in Henan Province, China. Through a combination of Superclean LE4201 insulation and Supersmooth LE0500 semi conductive cable materials, the high voltage cables give consistent and reliable long-term high performance, so essential to a key industrial base and railway intersection like Zhengzhou City.
Mr Chen Guo Ping, Logistics Manager, Prysmian Baosheng, comments on their choice of materials, "Long-term, reliable performance was the key priority for the Zhengzhou Electric Bureau when selecting a new power network for the City. We have worked with Borouge on projects around the world and we were confident that the combination of our close cooperation and the high quality cabling that can be achieved with Superclean LE4201 and Supersmooth LE0500 from Borealis would deliver the best result for our customer. The cable has been in operation for over a year and Zhengzhou is pleased with its performance."
New Supercure™ cable for durability and cost-effective production runs
Borouge is also launching a new grade to Borealis’ Supercure™ high productivity energy cable compound product portfolio by offering a crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation solution for long-term performance cables. The first of its kind, Supercure LC8205 combines water tree retardant properties with faster crosslinking, ensuring longevity of the cable and quick production runs benefiting both cable makers and power distributors.
Supercure productivity enhancement technology ensures that LC8205 maintains the high level of cable quality whilst at the same time increasing cable plant productivity. Crosslinking occurs faster in the curing tube, allowing a 30 per cent increase in line speed. Reduced production costs result from the higher productivity.
The enhanced water tree retardant copolymer technology achieves outstanding results by reducing the growth of water trees thus extending cable lifetime. Supercure LC8205 is developed to meet industry standards for accelerated wet ageing, including Cenelec HD 620 (2000).
Borouge will also feature jacketing products, based on the Borstar Technology process. These innovative bimodal products provide outstanding balance between properties necessary for communication cables such as excellent Environmental Stress Crack Resistance (ESCR), good processability, low shrinkage, low abrasion/hard surface and good barrier properties.
