Borouge expands its presence in Asia Pacific with opening of Australia and New Zealand offices

Borouge, the leading provider of innovative plastics solutions in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, today announced that it has opened full sales and service offices in Melbourne, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand. The new offices reflect the continued growth of Borouge’s presence in the Asia Pacific region.

With Borouge's state-of-the-art production facility and its parent company, ADNOC both based in UAE, the timing of Borouge's growth is appropriate, as the UAE is set to enter a free trade agreement with Australia that will incorporate all Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The UAE and Australia began negotiations on the free trade agreement a year ago, and Australia could become the UAE's third free trade partner following the United States and Singapore. With the agreement in place, and spurred on by the activities of companies like Borouge, the volume of trade between the countries is set to accelerate further.

The new office forms part of Borouge's strategic expansion in the region and will help service Borouge 2, the company’s multi-billion dollar expansion at its production site in Ruwais, UAE. This world-scale project is set to triple Borouge's existing production capacity to two million tonnes per annum by 2010.

Hubert Puchner, Chief Executive of Borouge marketing, commented: "These new offices in Australia and New Zealand further strengthen our growing sales and service network. With a stronger presence in the region, our ability to meet the increasingly sophisticated requirements of customers will be enhanced."

Jamal Al Ramahi, Senior Vice President, Business Support, of Borouge marketing, commented: "Borouge is committed to creating value for our customers though world-leading innovation in products and processes. Our objective is to produce the most versatile polymers for products that make a real difference to everyday life. By achieving this we are striving to meet our vision of 'Shaping the Future with Plastics'."
