CHEMTURA TO RAISE BROMINATED CLEAR BRINE FLUID PRICING

Middlebury, CT – Chemtura Corporation (NYSE:CEM) today announced it will increase list and off-list pricing by 40% for calcium bromide 14.2 , zinc bromide/calcium bromide 19.2 solution and sodium bromide 12.5 in all regions. New pricing is effective October 14, 2005, where contracts allow. Concurrent with the increase, Chemtura will no longer offer price change notification terms longer than 30 days.

The list prices per pound for these products (in bulk) ex-works will be:

Anne Noonan, Vice President and General Manager of Flame Retardants and Brominated Performance Products stated, “Increased demand continues for all brominated products and it is essential we achieve improved value, including clear brine fluids, to recover investment in manufacturing facilities and infrastructure. Chemtura believes this increase is required to sustain these efforts and continue our position as a quality supplier of brominated clear brine fluids.”
