CHEMTURA AT CPHI: NEW PRODUCTS AND A NEW INDUSTRY FOCUS

Visit Booth J27, Hall 20

Chemtura Corporation (NYSE:CEM), one of America’s largest specialty chemical companies, will showcase its expanded global portfolio of reagents for the pharmaceutical synthesis and its new, industry-specific organization at CPhI, Booth J27, Hall 20.

Visitors to the Chemtura booth will discover what’s new in Bromine and Catalysts, An expanded Axion® organometallic reagents portfolio, C1-C3 fluorinated, halogenated alkanes & alkenes for the life sciences industry and Fluorination & Ammoxidation capabilities for organic synthesis.

Chemtura’s Bromine & Derivatives business supplies a wide range of intermediates to the Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemical industries where bromine is generally used in processes to facilitate cleaner, higher yields of product at lower temperatures. Chemtura brings decades of experience and innovation to the bromine and derivatives field.

The Catalyst & Inhibitors business is likewise an innovation center: The Chemtura catalyst research group in Bergkamen, Germany works closely with pharmaceutical customers to generate tailor-made organometallic reagents to meet their specific synthesis needs.

An even bigger range of AXION organometallic reagents for efficient use in the production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients will also be presented at CPhI: Metal Alkyls based on Aluminum, Zinc, Zirconium, Magnesium and Boron are highly effective alkylation and reducing reagents in organic synthesis, and Organotin Compounds, tailor-made to provide specific performance in a large variety of organic syntheses. Chemtura also offers recycling of used tin compounds as part of its product stewardship commitment.

Visitors will also be able to see how much easier it can be to incorporate fluorine into a bioactive compound. These compounds are key to new anti-cancer, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-fertility, and central nervous system drugs, as well as modern herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides, and Chemtura’s range of organic building blocks based on CF2 and CF3 groups make it safe, simple, and economical to propitiously place fluorine at a particular position in a molecule. Fluorine can improve lipophilicity, reduce toxicity and increase efficacy—often resulting in cost savings and smaller dosage requirements.

Chemtura will also present the company’s fluorination & ammoxidation capabilities for organic synthesis. Chemtura’s Amsterdam plant makes a series of Benzonitriles as well as fluoro-based intermediates for both the Pharmaceutical and Agricultural chemical industries. Products include 2,6-dichlorobenzonitrile, 2,6-difluorobenzonitrile,2-chloro-6-fluorobenzonitrile,2,6-difluorobenzamide, Diflubenzuron and 3,4-dichlorobenzonitrile.

The Amsterdam plant is equipped for continuous processes and batch processes and Its units can also perform customized conversions and produce formulations or granulations (liquid and solid) for customer end-products.
