Clariant intends to acquire Indian masterbatch producer
Muttenz, December 16, 2013 - Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, today announced the intention to acquire Plastichemix Industries, a masterbatch business in India, located in Vadodara with production facilities in Rania, Kalol and Nandesari in Gujarat (India). Plastichemix Industries is a leading supplier of black, white, filler and colour masterbatches, additive masterbatches, flushed pigments and mono-concentrates as well as engineering plastics compounds.

Clariant’s halogen-free flame retardants lock in safe fire protection for new class of natural oil based, renewable polyurethane foams
Muttenz, November 22, 2013 - Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, is supporting the use of Green Chemistry to create safer, fire retarded polyurethane (PU) foams for the upholstery sector. Research by Green Urethanes Ltd, the provider of green solutions to the global PU industry, confirms that manufacturers can use reactive halogen-free flame retardant Exolit® OP 560 with this technology to develop low emission flexible foams that meet internationally accepted flammability standards such as Cal TB 117 (California Technical Bulletin 117, a flammability test for upholstered furniture using a small flame).

Clariant Opens New Innovation Center in Frankfurt
Muttenz, October 31, 2013 – Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, is today officially opening its new EUR 100 million Clariant Innovation Center (CIC) in Frankfurt, Germany. The company’s new global hub for Research & Development (R&D) is based at the “Industriepark Höchst.” It will be the home of Clariant’s competence centers in chemical research and process technology as well as application laboratories for several Business Units and state-of-the art analytical laboratories . The CIC will also house the departments for Intellectual Property Management and New Business Development. Clariant plans to divest Leather Services Business to Stahl
Muttenz, October 30, 2013 - Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, announced today that it plans to sell its Leather Services business to Stahl. Stahl Holdings B.V., majority-owned by Wendel Group, is a Dutch company providing high quality chemicals, dyes and coatings for leather and other applications. The combination of both businesses would create a global leader in leather chemicals with a higher growth profile than the stand-alone entities and with significant synergy potential.
