Clariant to Present Sustainable, Performance-Enhancing Chemistry Advancements at '16 Middle East Corrosion Conference

  • New Clariant innovations promise step-change advancement in heavy brine performance over current market alternatives
  • Clariant papers deliver findings of important advances in corrosion inhibition and iron sulfide dissolution
  • Clariant to exhibit at stand #D05

Houston, TX, February 2, 2016 – Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, today announced that the company will exhibit and present multiple papers at the 16th Middle East Corrosion Conference and Exhibition (16MECC) held February 8-11, 2016, at the Gulf International Convention Center, Gulf Hotel in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. Clariant Oil Services has made significant progress in developing and field-proving chemistries that target corrosion inhibition and iron sulfide dissolution, and these findings will be presented during the Technical Program on the morning of Thursday, February 11.

“Clariant plays a significant role in helping to solve oil producers’ field problems with regard to damage caused by scaling and corrosion, and our products help oil producers to lower production costs, which is critical in today’s market of depressed oil prices,” says Craig Kelly, EMEA technical manager for Clariant Oil Services. “For corrosion caused by heavy brines, our HOSTASTIM™ family of products offers a step-change advancement in performance over available chemicals on the market today. Additionally, new products within our SCALETREAT® family dissolve iron sulfide without detrimental side effects, such as high corrosion rates.”

As part of the Technical Program on Thursday from 9-9:25 a.m. in room Dana-1, Kelly will present the paper, “Dissolution of Iron Sulfide with a Novel, High Performance, Non-Acid Chemical.” Later that morning, from 11:25-11:50 a.m. in that same room, Dr. Nihal Obeyesekere, global integrity manager for Clariant Oil Services, will give the presentation, “Recent Advances in Novel Corrosion Inhibitor Development for Heavy Brine.” Obeyesekere will also be featured during the conference’s Technical Information Exchange, moderating the presentation, “Chemical Treatment for Preservation of Pipeline Integrity during Commissioning and Pro-longed Standby.”

Clariant, a conference gold-level sponsor of 16MECC, can be found at stand #D05 in the exhibition area. Clariant invites all conference attendees to meet with representatives at the stand and discuss how the company’s innovative new chemistries can add value to their operations.
