Clariant to extend range of pharma ingredients for smart solutions at CPhI show
Muttenz, October 5, 2010 - Under the banner 'Enabling Smart Solutions’ Clariant International features new process solvents Highsolv® P99 and Highsolv® E99 for organic synthesis alongside a strong line-up of versatile molecules for pharmaceutical intermediates, Glymes and Butyl Glymes, at CPhl 2010 (Hall 6 Stand 6L62, Paris Nord Villepinte, October 5-7). In addition, Clariant will showcase its range of Polyglykols® as APIs for laxative manufacturers or as excipients for products such as tablets.
Highsolv P99 and Highsolv E99 will create novel opportunities to achieve efficiency and performance-related properties with reduced environmental impact for sensitive pharmaceutical applications and other sectors with stringent requirements such as agriculture and fragrances.
The highly versatile colorless, low viscosity process solvents with favorable toxicological properties have high flash and boiling points. They are suitable for use in various types of reaction. Tests have already demonstrated their improved efficiency and yield-boosting potential compared to traditional solvents. They therefore offer a viable replacement for commonly used toxic and flammable solvents in organic synthesis such as THF, dichloromethane, toluene, and NMP.
Highsolv P99 and Highsolv E99 will be presented at the CPhl speakers’ corner on October 7 from 13:30-13:55h.
As a major supplier with over 40 years of experience in the production of glyoxal, glyoxaylic acid and derivatives, Clariant produces a large variety of versatile molecules for use as building blocks in downstream chemistry. Clariant will highlight its committed approach to the development of renewable sources and its portfolio of derivatives for pharma, agro fine chemicals and other specialty applications.
Emphasizing its strong focus on enhancing yields and reaction rates, and on products with excellent recycling potential, Clariant will present the benefits of its Glymes and Butyl Glymes products. These offer extremely high solvency for organics and inorganics, high thermal and chemical stability, and easier and safer handling. They are suitable for metal catalyzed reactions and as phase transfer catalysts.
Polyglykols that offer soluble and dissolving benefits in one product complete Clariant’s innovative product offerings at CPhl. The company will present its complete range of different molecular weight, high purity PEGs, supported by CEP certification and DMF file type IV. The Polyglykol product range is predominantly used as an API in laxatives or as an excipient for tablets, suppository masses, organ preservation, protein purification and drug delivery systems.
“In addition to presenting our well-established Polyglykols and trusted portfolio of fine chemical building blocks and enhancers for the processing of sensitive applications, CPhl provides an ideal opportunity to unveil the benefits of our latest Highsolv developments,” comments Dirk Hamm, Director Business Line Building Blocks & Intermediates Clariant.
Clariant Masterbatches Business Unit unveils its new brand of color and performance masterbatches and compounds for the medical and pharmaceutical industry at the concurrent ICSE show at the Paris Nord Villepinte (Booth 4E110).
