Clariant promotes sustainability- and aesthetics-boosting dyes and chemicals at Aluminium Messe 2012

  • Upgrade of Swiss production facility: investment supports more efficient use of energy by Clariant
  • Product portfolio reflects Clariant's strategy to support sustainability challenges of anodized aluminum manufacturing

Muttenz, August 30, 2012 – Clariant will present its full range of dyes, colorants and process chemicals designed to improve the sustainability and aesthetics performance of anodized aluminum finishing at the Aluminium Messe 2012 in Düsseldorf, Germany from October 9 – 12, 2012.

At Booth 13K24, Hall 13, Clariant will highlight the host of performance- and process-boosting benefits available to manufacturers serving the consumer goods, automotive, sport, and architectural market segments. The company is continuously working on the development of improved products to cover a wide spectrum of economic and environmental challenges with its products.

To achieve this target, Clariant’s chemical expert team has recently upgraded its dedicated aluminum dye and chemical facility in Muttenz, Switzerland - one of the most important European aluminum dyes and chemicals production sites - to the latest, advanced process control technology, to offer customers high quality, consistent products which meet current market requirements. Products manufactured here support the industry’s drive for greater production efficiency and productivity, the use of more environmentally-compatible ingredients, and high quality end-product aesthetics.

For example, Clariant’s Sanodye® range, which does not contain heavy metals as structural element, provide coloration suitable for environmentally-conscious interior and general purpose applications, while Anodal® process chemicals and additives are designed to increase productivity, efficiency and minimize the environmental impact of customers’ processes. On the aesthetics side, Clariant’s Sanodal® indoor & outdoor dyes offer excellent fade resistant properties to anodized aluminum, with Sanodure® Multi-Purpose dyes covering virtually all color needs for interior use. Aluprint® colorants are an easy to use solvent-based dye preparation formulated to allow accurate printing and subsequently “lock in” multi-colored text and patterns into the anodized aluminum.

Optimization at the state-of-the-art plant is resulting in an energy-efficient production process, in line with Clariant’s core efforts to improve the sustainability of its own operations.

“Clariant has extensive experience in supporting the anodized aluminum market and the upgrading of our dedicated manufacturing facility in Switzerland was an important and logical step in ensuring the finest products on the market for our customers,” comments Norbert Merklein, Vice President Business Segment Plastics & Special Applications Clariant. “We are committed to support the attainment of sustainability and high quality within the sector and are geared towards helping our customers achieve this, whether offering technical service in cooperation with our strategic partners for reducing production waste, aiding product durability or providing more environmentally-compatible dye solutions for their finishing process.”
