Clariant launches new fashion trend and color guides for Spring/Summer 2014
Muttenz, December 17, 2012 – Clariant’s new Global Color Card and Fashion up! trend booklet provide a definitive tactile route map to the fashion trends and colors influencing leather for Spring/Summer 2014. The guides are the interpretation of an international trend workshop by Clariant’s creative leather technicians, and colors developed in close cooperation with Modeurop, the Fashion Pool at DSI (Das Schuhinstitut GmbH). Based on the themes detailed here, the trend booklet provides actual leather samples that Clariant’s customers can work with in developing their collections for the warmer months of 2014.
THE FOUR TREND THEMES IN LEATHER
LUXOR
Hot weather utility uniforms are the natural progression of the military fashion story. Vintage vegtan and rugged natural leathers come in sunbaked desert shades. Outdoor adventure gear and safari casuals with a heritage twist are coordinated with functional footwear and practical bags.
EDEN
The Garden of Eden and exotic seduction influence this sultry summer mood. Alluring colors mimic those of brightly plumed birds and equatorial flora. Textures imitate exotic fauna and the gloss and iridescence of tropical insects.
ART HOUSE
The creative world of contemporary arts and crafts inspires clothing and accessory design too. Cracked paint and hand-crafted techniques encourage freestyle textures. Dresses become a canvas for large-scale prints or painted daubs, and special effects are applied to shoes and handbags with a truly creative spirit.
LUNAR
Minimalism is updated with space-age angles and reflective surfaces. Pale lunar metallics shimmer like distant galaxies for smooth or textured foils and more casual, eroded metal effects. Streamlined apparel with soft flowing contours or cleaner, sharper lines is accessorized with fast-forward accessories.
LEATHER COLORS
Following last season’s exuberance of colors, it is now time to introduce a calming touch alongside the stronger tones: black and white provide a framework, impart structure and create neutrality. But there is still room for a spectrum of colors, from neutral tones and pastels to intense, powerful colors. Colors lose a little of their status as dominant single colors but surprise with unconventional combinations.
REALITY
Reality focuses on what matters. The look is defined by single colors with attention-grabbing bi-color effects. Black and white form the basis, complemented with light, neutral shades such as light grey and beige and very pale green or blue, allowing new and exciting combinations with dark blue and red shades.
ART
Art and color belong together. Art is fantasy and the more intense the colors, the more striking the art. For this reason ‘Art’ stands for an unbelievable blaze of color – a mix of pastel, metallic and vibrant, intense shades. Here, too, black and white provide a certain balance.
WORLD
Think of the global traveller touring through diverse landscapes, climate zones and cultures – absorbing the colors of our world. The palette contains earthy shades of brown, watery blues and greys, as well as neutral sand and khaki tones. A touch of excitement is created with slightly hotter shades of spice and gold effects.
