Muttenz, January 23, 2013 – Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, represented by its Masterbatches Business Unit with business segments Healthcare Packaging and Medical Masterbatches will exhibit at Pharmapack Europe 2013 in Paris on Feb. 13-14 at Stand 332 and 333 respectively. Healthcare Packaging will display its full line of controlled atmosphere packaging solutions, ranging from drop-in desiccants to container closure systems, which can help protect pharmaceuticals from damaging moisture and oxygen. Masterbatches will present MEVOPUR® colorants and additives for improving aesthetics, processing and functionality in medical device applications. In addition, Valère Logel, Product Development Manager, will present “Your drug environment under control” on Thursday, Feb. 14. The presentation will discuss possibilities of control of the pharmaceutical packaging micro-environment to extend shelf life and enhance stability of sensitive drugs.
Products to be featured by Healthcare Packaging include innovative EQ-Pak® sorbents. Acting simultaneously as a humectant and desiccant, EQ-Pak packets help ensure that the package environment will not drop below or rise above specified humidity levels (within stated tolerances, moisture vapor transmission rate and temperature). Also featured are Clariant’s Continu-Strip® hole-punch packets which enable accurate automatic cutting and insertion into pharmaceutical containers with standard packet insertion equipment on the market.
Masterbatches will spotlight a new range of ISO/USP pre-tested MEVOPUR processing and functionality-enhancing additives that address customer needs for greater cost efficiency and differentiation. They include next-generation clarifiers, nucleants and process aids, as well as laser-marking additives and stabilizers. Clariant also offers a MEVOPUR USP/ISO standard color range produced with ingredients that have been pre-tested to ISO10933 Parts 4,5,10,11,18 and/USP 23 Part 87 and 88, and available as masterbatch or compounds for medical devices and pharmaceutical packaging.
