Clariant Molybdenum-Filled Nylon Compounds Lend Lubricity and Toughness to Molded Products
- New compound offers exceptional mechanical properties
- Injection molding saves production time, reduces scrap
- Specialty compounds meet unique application requirements
Charlotte, August 14, 2013 - Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, today announced the availability of injection-molding grades of molybdenum-disulfide-filled nylon 66 compounds that are ideal for applications requiring toughness, high compressive strength and lubricity. Mechanical properties of the material are impressive.

These properties make the material a good choice for metal replacement applications like bushings. In the past, such products have been machined out of extruded bar stock but this approach is costly due to processing time involved and material waste. By injection molding the new Clariant MoS2 lubricated nylon, processors eliminate scrap almost entirely and cut manufacturing times by 75% or more. For applications requiring extremely tight tolerances, parts can be molded and then machined to finished dimensions with minimal material waste and dramatically improved cycle times.
Clariant Masterbatches’ specialty compounding business is structured to formulate and compound a wide-range of engineering grade thermoplastic resins, reinforcements and additives, in a variety of colors, to meet demanding application requirements. RENOL® 6642 is a standard Clariant compound available for quick delivery. However, Clariant can also formulate custom compounds to meet unique application requirements.
Clariant specialty compounding experts draw on decades of experience with resins, colorants and additives to deliver an ideal solution.
Their knowledge extends from material selection to compounding to processing and Clariant’s global scope and non-material-biased approach to problem solving allows them the autonomy to choose from a full range of ingredients for any application. Technical competence, along with stringent quality assurance programs, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and the ability to respond quickly anywhere on the planet, all add up to make Clariant Masterbatches’ specialty compounding unit an excellent source for high-performance resin solutions.
