Clariant extends caring and sustainable benefits of EcoTain® to Home Care

  • EcoTain® - "sustainable excellence at every step" available for Home Care
  • Latest innovation GlucoPure™ at the forefront of safer ingredients that respond to consumers' desire for friendlier, more responsible washing and cleaning products
  • Latest market segment to benefit from Clariant's four-phase lifecycle concept

Muttenz, October 16, 2014 - Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, is extending the advantages of its EcoTain® sustainability concept to the Home Care market, leading the way with its latest surfactant innovation GlucoPure™ for the hand dishwashing and bathroom cleaning segments.

In its four-stage life-cycle concept that covers ingredient composition, manufacturing, formulation & application, and disposal, EcoTain applies measurable criteria to document the sustainability profile of its products. Product benefits are transparently presented at every life cycle stage according to sustainable, eco-friendlier and efficient standards. With its EcoTain sustainability concept Clariant enables its customers to easily follow the market trends by offering more sustainable products. In parallel, EcoTain facilitates meeting company specific environmental targets.

Clariant’s EcoTain-products for Home Care support the creation of effective cleaning products based on safer ingredients that use fewer resources. Water and packaging material is reduced by highly concentrated formulations, and innovative formulations save energy by allowing low temperature washing. For Home Care Clariant offers applications ranging from hand dishwashing liquids to hard surface cleaners, and liquid and powder laundry detergents.

“Through our EcoTain concept, we bring together outstanding expertise with a clear understanding of our customer needs. Looking at our latest innovation GlucoPure, we are proud to offer the best of both worlds – “green” that cleans. GlucoPure is made from 95% of renewable carbon and presents a performance that matches the current non-renewable benchmarks in the market. The combination is unique,” comments Ralf Zerrer, Global Head of Strategic Marketing, Industrial and Consumer Specialties at Clariant.

Sustainability and supporting a cleaner, greener future, is integral to Clariant’s strategy. The EcoTain initiative is just one example of Clariant’s efforts to improve its own sustainability and that of its customers and their industries. EcoTain labeled ingredients are currently available to the following market segments: Home Care, Personal Care, Crop Solutions, Paints & Coatings, and Industrial Lubricants.
