Clariant to Host Workshop for Ammonia, Methanol and Hydrogen Industries at Asian Nitrogen + Syngas 2014 Conference

  • Workshop to cover strategies for improving catalyst efficiency in ammonia, methanol and hydrogen production
  • Clariant supports plants in maximizing efficiency of superior catalysts to increase profitability of production process

Singapore, November 3, 2014 – Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, invites their partners in the Southeast Asian ammonia, methanol and hydrogen industries to join them for a workshop during the region’s leading Syngas conference, Asian Nitrogen + Syngas 2014, to be held on 17-19 November 2014 at the Ritz Carlton, Jakarta, Indonesia. The workshop, which is an official event in the conference program, will cover a host of topics related to its theme, “Improving Catalyst Efficiency for the Ammonia, Methanol and Hydrogen Industries.”

South East Asia is home to a significant syngas market and with the region becoming more active in the global economy, producers in Southeast Asia account for a large share of the world’s production today. With the regional and global demand for ammonia, methanol and hydrogen steadily on the rise, it is important for manufacturers to not only use the best catalysts on the market, but also to know how to use them most efficiently.

As ammonia, methanol and hydrogen continue to play an important role in the increased worldwide production of fertilizers and base chemicals, as well as for the production of ultra-low sulfur fuels, , this workshop will facilitate a better understanding of Clariant’s catalyst based production technology and will examine the different catalytic production steps required for the production of ammonia, methanol and hydrogen.

“Our goal for the workshop is to impart a better knowledge of catalysts and their mode of operations in all catalytic process steps in the production of ammonia, methanol and hydrogen,” previewed Harald Dialer, Head of Business Segment Syngas , BU Catalysts, Clariant, who will be the chairman of the workshop. “We want to support our partners in the industry in maximizing the efficiency of Clariant’s superior catalysts, which will in turn increase the profitability of their production process and strengthen their bottom line.”

During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn and ask questions about a wide range of topics, including the improvement and development of catalysts for the production of synthesis gases, options for increasing production rates and energy efficiency of their plants, plant safety considerations, and much more.

To cover all this material, the workshop will be broken up into six sessions. These sessions will include discussions of Clariant’s full range of Syngas product solutions, including AmoMax-10, a catalyst for ammonia production with a positive track record spanning more than a decade; MegaMax 800, an advanced and highly stable methanol catalyst with a long life, a low amount of byproducts and the flexibility to run in large and small production units with a variety of production technologies; and ShiftMax® 120HCF, an enhanced high temperature shift (HTS) catalyst that contains virtually no hexavalent chromium (Cr6+) and therefore avoids health and safety risks in ammonia and hydrogen production.
