Clariant earns cosmetics-ingredients certification from U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

  • ISO 22716 documents quality of R&D, manufacturing, and storage
  • Standard has become a requirement of American personal-care industry
  • Corporation's plants adhere to the high standards globally

Charlotte, February 19, 2015 – Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, announced that it has received ISO 22716 certification for all U.S. cosmetics-ingredients sites from the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, College Park, Md. These products are used in Clariant’s Personal Care product lines.

ISO 22716 provides guidelines for the production, control, storage, and shipment of cosmetic products, according to the International Organization for Standardization, Geneva, Switzerland.

Adherence to these standards ensures the highest quality products and production processes for the cosmetics and personal care industry, said John Clarke, Head of Industrial & Consumer Specialties, North America

“For our customers, meeting this standard is no longer just a product benefit,” Clarke said, “but has become a requirement of doing business.”

At the same time, Clariant announced that, in addition to facilities in the United States, the corporation’s 22 dedicated cosmetics-ingredient sites globally, throughout Europe, Asia, and Mexico, have received Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) certification from the European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients (EFcii).
