DSM and KuibyshevAzot announce strategic cooperation in Russia

Royal DSM N.V., the global Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company headquartered in the Netherlands, and KuibyshevAzot OJSC (KA) today announce a strategic cooperation. As a result of this strategic cooperation, DSM Engineering Plastics will enter into two joint ventures with KA. In both joint ventures DSM Engineering Plastics will hold a majority share. In addition, KA will be granted a license under DSM Fibre Intermediates’ technology for the production of cyclohexanone.

DSM ENGINEERING PLASTICS EXTENDS DIABLO FAMILY FOR FURTHER WEIGHT REDUCTION IN AUTOMOTIVE UNDER-THE-BONNET APPLICATIONS

These products are a direct response to some of the main trends in the automotive industry, including weight reduction. The new materials also facilitate system cost optimizations and productivity gains, long term sustainability and reduced environmental impact.

AKULON FUEL LOCK FROM DSM ENGINEERING PLASTICS PROMOTES CLEANER AIR BY MINIMIZING EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS FROM FUEL TANKS

Akulon® Fuel Lock, a mono-polyamide 6 technology, dramatically reduces evaporative emissions from the fuel tanks of non-road outdoor equipment and vehicles with small, spark-ignition engines. In fact, tests of a tank with a nominal 2 mm wall thickness molded from Akulon Fuel Lock showed an exceptionally low evaporative emission rate less than 20 percent of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulation limit.

DSM ENGINEERGING PLASTICS ANNOUNCES GLOBAL PRICE INCREASE FOR AKULON PA COMPOUNDS

DSM has announced its intention to increase prices for its Akulon® PA6 and PA66 compounds. This increase, which will be effective immediately, is to offset continued escalations in the costs of key raw materials.

DSM ENGINEERING PLASTICS LAUNCHES 5 NEW GRADES OF ITS BIO-BASED ECOPAXX RESIN

The introduction of EcoPaXX™ fits perfectly in DSM’s strategy, in which sustainability and innovation are key elements. Besides EcoPaXX, DSM has other green products in its portfolio, including Arnitel® Eco, a green polyester elastomer, and Palapreg® ECO, a bio-based duroplast. EcoPaXX is a polyamide (PA) 410, and belongs to the family of the “long-chain polyamides”. It pairs typical long-chain polyamide properties, such as low moisture absorption and excellent chemical resistance, with high melting point (highest of all bio-based polyamides: ca. 250oC, see graph: melting point of bio-based polyamides as function of amide bond density) and high crystallization rate (typical for engineering plastics such as Akulon PA66 and Stanyl PA 46). It combines the best of both worlds and is therefore suitable for many high-tech applications.
