This award, granted by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), certifies that the material meets the low permeation of hydrocarbons requirements for small, off-road engine fuel tanks.

DSM invests in knowledge and innovation in the Netherlands

Royal DSM, the global Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company, today announced that it is going to invest approximately €100 million in three new R&D facilities in Delft and Sittard-Geleen (both in the Netherlands) over the next two years. The investment confirms DSM’s commitment to the Netherlands, where the Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company was founded over 110 years ago. The investment in Delft concerns a new laboratory for biotechnological research as well as a DSM contribution to the recently formed consortium for the Bioprocess Pilot Facility (BPF) for bio-research. In Sittard-Geleen a new materials sciences research building will be realized on the Chemelot Campus. Since the new R&D units will closely collaborate with knowledge institutes, government bodies and other companies (including SMEs), the investments will have a major impact on the strengthening of the Dutch knowledge-based economy, precisely in the fields that the Dutch government has designated as key top sectors for the future.

Industry trends such as miniaturization, integration or “thinnovation”, combined with the move towards Cloud Computing, will mean that areas such as the server market will depend increasingly on reflow soldering assembly technology. The required power supplies to drive each of these systems can easily reach 500V or more. As a consequence, plastic materials used in such server systems will need to meet stringent electrical, thermal and mechanical characteristics. DSM’s Stanyl® ForTii™ shows exceptionally high performance characteristics with a very balanced profile on all of these requirements.

API Institute developed successfully an Arnitel® Eco monofilament for 3D printing systems of Almteq

API Institute has developed successfully a monofilament of Arnitel® Eco from DSM for Almteq's Inspire 3-D printing systems. Almteq aims to use only bio-based materials for its printers and was looking for a flexible material to add to its portfolio. Arnitel Eco fit the need for a flexible or elastic bio-based material able to offer the right technical performance. API Institute develops and produces bio-based monofilament solutions for 3D printing in new innovative materials.
