DSM introduces Stanyl Diablo OCD 2305 BM, the first high Temperature polyamide for blow-molded ducts.
(Photo: DSM Engineering Plastics: DSMPR357)DSM, the inventor of the Diablo technology, has launched Stanyl® Diablo OCD 2305 BM, a special heat stabilized blow molding grade of Stanyl polyamide 4.6, developed specifically for hot charge air ducts. It is the first high temperature polyamide suitable for processing by extrusion-blow molding and with a significant cost benefit compared to PPS, thanks to its lower weight and scrap rate.

Arnitel VT is a very flexible thermoplastic elastomer that, when made into membranes just a few microns thick, is 100% waterproof but also highly breathable and comfortable. The material contains no PFCs (perfluorinated chemicals) and is 100% recyclable.

The new facility, which is scheduled to open in 2014, forms part of an investment of around €100 million that DSM is making in three new R&D facilities in Sittard-Geleen and in Delft (also in the Netherlands).

The plant is co-located with DSM's two existing plants in Geleen, The Netherlands. The capacity increase is needed to meet the strongly growing market demand for the new polymer, used in electronics, automotive and other markets.

U.S. Department of Agriculture lists DSM EcoPaXX polyamide 410 grades in "BioPreferred" Catalog of biobased products

The grades of this high performance engineering thermoplastic have a proven bio-based content of around 70%. This is because the polymer incorporates building blocks derived from castor oil obtained from plants that grow in tropical regions and which are not used for food products.

DSM announces Akulon price increase in the Americas

To offset escalating raw material costs, DSM Engineering Plastics, Inc. is to increase the prices of Akulon® PA6 base grades sold in the Americas by $0.09 per pound effective for all orders shipped on or after November 19, 2012.

DSM has launched a series of new halogen-free flame retardant Stanyl compounds for the electronics market, namely, Stanyl® SC50 and Stanyl® MC50. Manufacturers of connectors, sockets and electronics components can now enjoy the traditional strengths of Stanyl products such as toughness and high flow with more reliable and trouble free processability. This new generation of materials incorporates technology to address issues associated with other High Temperature Polyamides.
