DSM STANYL RESOLVES LEAD FREE ISSUES FOR STEWART

Bel Stewart Connector has recently converted a portion of their MagJack® line of connectors to a lead free solder process leading to significantly higher temperature requirements for the thermoplastic insulator materials. DSM Stanyl® TE250F6 provided the solution and proved to be the perfect material to meet Stewart’s needs for lead free capability along with offering mechanical and processing benefits. The MagJacks®, produced from Stanyl TE250F6, are used in game consoles, printers and modems.

Bel Stewart Connector found value in the high heat resistance of Stanyl (HDT of 290oC) combined with its excellent flow properties and inherent toughness. Kelli Sisler, DSM’s Application Development Engineer-Connectors, assisted in the process with her knowledge of lead free solder requirements and understanding of Stewart’s product requirements.

Today the customer list for MagJacks® includes the biggest names in communications and computing with hundreds of thousands of ports of product shipped each month.
