DSM ENGINEERING PLASTICS ANNOUNCES PRICE INCREASES ON AKULON PA6 AND PA66 ENGINEERING THERMOPLASTIC COMPOUNDS
As a result of continued escalations in the costs of key raw materials, DSM Engineering Plastics will increase prices on a global basis for its Akulon PA6 and PA66 Compounds.
Effective 1 April 2010, DSM will increase prices by €250/t in Europe and Asia Pacific Regions, and will increase prices by $0.12/lb in North America.
While DSM Engineering Plastics continues to pursue and implement cost savings initiatives targeted at absorbing the impact of the raw material escalations, this additional increase is necessary to ensure DSM Engineering Plastics’ sustainable long-term growth.
Richard Pieters, Global Business Director Akulon, says: “DSM is strongly committed to Innovation and growth. Therefore we must protect the sustainable position we have built in the compounded engineering thermoplastics market. Similar appropriate action has already been taken in our polymers and high viscous PA6 business and we feel that we have no choice but to also implement this increase for compounds.”
