Upgraded Web-based support underlines Distrupol’s customer service orientation

Distrupol, a member company of Univar and a leading European polymer distributor, technical service and solutions provider, has redesigned, revitalised and re-launched its Web site (www.distrupol.com) with more content, more functionality and more user-value.

According to David Jukes, CEO Distrupol: “Our Web site is not about selling products, it’s about delivering service to customers. In upgrading the site we have put our customers at the forefront of our thinking. We have taken onboard their expressed needs and used them as the building blocks for a new, easily navigable and more flexible information and support platform.”

In addition to an overview of Distrupol business, the upgraded site provides the tools to increase efficiency in material selection, as well as access to technical expertise and services that can aid product development and reduce product time-to-market. Key to this is the use of a series of purpose-designed icons, each denoting a specific property or polymer characteristic.

Grouped under each of these icons are the materials that principally exhibit the specified property or that can meet an application’s requirement for it. Therefore, for users able to identify the key performance feature or attribute demanded by an application, the corresponding icon will immediately locate those polymers capable of providing a solution. These can then be reviewed in terms of other supporting properties that may also be desired.

A completely new addition, PIC (Product Information Centre), is a unique, seamless, site-connected system created to provide a powerful support tool specifically for designers and material specifiers, particularly those with limited experience with using plastics or experienced users with complex application needs. PIC provides accurate material information in a searchable database and comparative format. It gives quick and easy access to the technical data of more than 3,000 material grades in the Distrupol portfolio and provides for the selection of materials by attributes, together with side-by-side grade comparison.

“Our aim has been to create the technical platform on which to build the Distrupol Web site as a product development resource for our customers,” says Jukes. ‘Reactions from the market, since we introduced it at the recent PDM exhibition in the UK, have been highly positive and will inspire its continuing evolution.”
