Distrupol

The right information only two or three clicks away on Distrupol’s upgraded customer website

Distrupol, a member company of Univar and a leading European polymer distributor and technical service and solutions provider, has fully upgraded and enhanced the www.distrupol.com website, to give customers faster and more intuitive navigation to an even wider array of practical (design) information.

The “new look” website builds on the success of Distrupol’s Product Information Centre (PIC) that was added to the website in 2005. The site now features new resources including the Processing Centre, Quality Centre and Training Centre, that can help customers to further increase their knowledge of plastics and processing.

“These new additions and improvements to our website are part of our continuous effort to add value through customer education and training,” said David Jukes, CEO Distrupol. “Polymer distribution is more than warehousing and logistics. In our view it means partnering with customers and helping them to gain the knowledge to create successful applications.”

The enhanced Distrupol web site will offer easy and intuitive navigation that presents the right information within two or three mouse-clicks. Complementing the PIC, which has received 1,300 registrations to date, several new sections have been added:

• Processing Centre: detailed processing information can be selected, along with simple guides on such topics as “Injection Moulding Troubleshooting” and “The right machine for the right job.”

• Quality Centre: customers can download environmental, quality, and health and safety policies and ISO certificates.

• Training Centre: Distrupol offers a wide range of training programmes to meet customers’ needs to improve their expertise. These encompass polymer performance, material selection, designing with plastics, production optimization, industry requirements, and many others. In addition, customers can download easy-to-follow presentations on a variety of topics, such as “Taking the Mystique out of Polycarbonate.”

• Useful Stuff: engineers and designers will find helpful information in this section. Sample topics include “Basics of Designing with Plastics” and “A Brief Explanation of the UL94 Burning Tests.”

Whether as an advisor or with hands-on involvement, Distrupol has substantial experience of working in partnership with OEMs, designers and moulders and can provide the necessary technical back-up to support them at each stage of the product development process in taking projects from art to part. This includes technical assistance with initial design and material selection, through computer modelling and mould flow simulation to production optimisation.

“Our ultimate goal is to make the Distrupol website the only place our customers need to visit for all their polymer information and training needs,” said Jukes. “In addition, through our continuously evolving range of services and dedicated designer-aids, Distrupol’s example is a clear demonstration of responsiveness within the supply chain. For us, ‘total solutions’ is more than just a buzz word; it’s the way we do business.”
