Distrupol adds customized on-site polymer training to its service offering
Polymer distributor Distrupol has added customized on-site polymer training to its service portfolio, putting its motto of ‘Knowledge that Delivers’ further into practice. One of the first companies to make use of this new offering was the Hi-Technology Group, from Waterlooville, Hampshire, UK. As a customer of Distrupol they invited them to provide an “Introduction to Plastic Materials and Processes” to a select group of Hi-Technology customers at the end of March 2007 as part of their training programme.
Distrupol’s introduction covered the areas of material selection, mould tool construction, an overview of the injection moulding processes and examples of moulding applications. Feedback from the participants, mainly design engineers and quality managers from the healthcare and industrial sectors, was very positive. “A comprehensive overview of the key areas to consider when designing in plastics”, one of them said.
According to Ryan MacRobbie, Design Manager at Hi-Technology Group, this was the first of several training events: “In conjunction with our suppliers and other industry experts, such as Distrupol, the Hi-Technology Group offers a range of specialist courses. Our aim is to deliver a challenging spectrum of training, aimed at newcomers to plastic applications, as well as senior designers and purchasing personnel.”
