Machinefabriek Amersfoort chooses slings made with Dyneema® because of exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, high abrasion resistance, durability, ease of handling and reduced storage.URMOND (NL), April 23, 2007 – DSM Dyneema today announced that Machinefabriek Amersfoort, a worldwide specialist in machining, heavy milling and turning of large metal parts, has begun using lifting slings made with ultra strong Dyneema® High Performance PolyEthylene (HPPE) fiber. The exceptional strength-to-weight ratio of Dyneema® HPPE has enabled the company to replace multiple polyester slings with fewer, lighter weight slings from sling maker Technotex (member of the Unitex Group), simplifying part handling and reducing storage. Also, as compared to polyester, the new slings with Dyneema® provide reduced stretch that enables crane operators to precisely position very large and heavy parts on a machine tool.

BENETEAU AND DSM DYNEEMA COOPERATE TO IMPROVE SAILBOAT PERFORMANCE

Urmond, 5 April, 2007 – BENETEAU, the world’s leading builder of sailing yachts, have designated Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber™, as their material of choice for running rigging and have entered into a cooperation with DSM Dyneema. The cooperation is aimed at improving the sailing performance of BENETEAU yachts through the use of next-generation running rigging made with Dyneema®, ultra-strong, lightweight polyethylene fiber. The high performance rigging, produced by Corderie Henri Lancelin, will be used in the majority of performance cruising sailboats built by BENETEAU, including the complete BENETEAU First range.

INNOVATION WITH DYNEEMA® IN UNDERWATER PIPE-LAYING OPERATIONS

DyneemaUrmond, April 4, 2007 – Allseas Group S.A., a Swiss offshore pipelaying company, has collaborated with DSM Dyneema to improve the safety and speed of underwater pipe-laying using next-generation rope technology. The two companies have worked to replace traditional steel wire rope used to adjust pipelay stingers with a new product from BEXCOropes that is made with ultra-strong, lightweight polyethylene Dyneema® fiber. The new rope, which has been installed on Allseas’ pipe-laying vessel Audacia, enables faster, easier and safer operations.

UNIQUE DYNEEMA® SOLUTION PROTECTS NAVY BOATS

URMOND (NL), 12 March 2007 - To realize the requisite flame retardancy for ballistic protective panels on Korean marine vessels, a solution was developed based on the addition of an aluminum and glass-epoxy resin layer to panels made with Dyneema® HB25. A patent application for this solution has been filed by DSM. This unique combination of flame retardant properties, excellent ballistic protection and durability in demanding environments, at the lowest weight possible is now available for marine and also for vehicle applications worldwide.

OFFSHORE FISH FARMING TRIALS NEW CAGE WITH DYNEEMA®

Urmond, 26 February 2007 - DSM Dyneema today announced a three-year partnership with Open Ocean Systems Inc. (OOSI) for joint development of innovative technologies for offshore fish farming. Open Ocean Systems, a new venture, is developing a total system that will leverage the trend towards moving aquaculture operations further offshore. OOSI, based in New Brunswick, Canada, chose to work with DSM Dyneema because its ultra-strong, lightweight Dyneema® fiber offers great potential for designing new cages that can meet the challenges of the open ocean environment, such as stronger currents and higher waves.

LEADING CANADIAN SALMON FARMER SELECTS NETS WITH DYNEEMA®

Aquaculture nets made with Dyneema®DSM Dyneema is pleased to announce that GMG, the manufacturing division of Cooke Aquaculture, a Canadian leader in salmon farming, has selected nets made with ultra-strong Dyneema® fiber to support the company’s expansion into the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador. Cooke’s Cold Ocean Salmon division has ordered mesh for twenty 150m containment nets made with Dyneema®, manufactured by Badinotti (Italy). The nets, which will be constructed in Canada by GMG, feature the exceptionally strong, lightweight Dyneema® fiber, which makes them easier to handle, prevents fish escapes and extends net life.
