The new order follows a three year trial period of using Dyneema® based cage nets from major Norwegian manufacturer and official DSM Dyneema licensee MøreNot AS, which has yielded a range of performance, economic and environmental benefits.

This is the first cryogenic application in which Dyneema® fiber has been used.

URMOND (NL), April 8, 2009 - Hoffmann Air Cargo Equipment (ACE) GmbH together with DSM Dyneema have developed a new, third generation lightweight air cargo net that is one of the first worldwide to achieve a total weight of below 8 kilograms (kg).

De Roparun is een non-stop estafetteloop waarbij teams van acht lopers in totaal 530 kilometer afleggen van Parijs, via Noord-Frankrijk en België, naar Rotterdam. De start heeft plaats op zaterdag 30 mei in Parijs Le Bourget en op maandag 1 juni, Tweede Pinksterdag, finishen de lopers op de Coolsingel in Rotterdam. De eerste Roparun werd gelopen in 1992 en er deden toen dertien teams mee. In 2009 doen er 275 teams mee.

DSM DYNEEMA SUCCESSFULLY RESOLVES PATENT INFRINGEMENT DISPUTE WITH BELPROTECT

URMOND (NL), 12 March 2009 - DSM Dyneema, inventor and manufacturer of Dyneema®, the world's strongest fiber™, announced today that it has reached a settlement with Belgian company Belprotect that ends a patent infringement dispute related to patented DSM Dyneema technology.

HIGHEST EUROPEAN AUTHORITY UPHOLDS DSM DYNEEMA PATENT

URMOND (NL), 8 December 2008 - DSM Dyneema, inventor and manufacturer of Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber®, has won a victory before the European Patent Office Boards of Appeal. The company received notification in November 2008 that it had successfully defended its patent for panels incorporating high-performance Dyneema® fiber against a challenge from Teijin Aramid (formerly Teijin Twaron), a Dutch supplier of rival fiber products. The panels made with Dyneema® are used in such applications as bullet-resistant vests and vehicle armor.

INDIAN ARMY VEHICLES PROTECTED AGAINST MINES BY DYNEEMA®

URMOND (NL), 4 December 2008 - In the first large public tender of its type in South Asia, Ordnance Factory, India, has chosen and specified Dyneema® HB26 unidirectional (UD) composite from DSM Dyneema for armoring mine protected vehicles for the Indian Army. Ultra-strong, lightweight Dyneema® HB26 was selected due to its robust ballistic performance combined with additional advantages, such as high stiffness, excellent acoustic and flame-retardant properties, to ensure superior quality and protection. The DSM material is being used by Anjani Technoplast Limited, a leading manufacturer based in Delhi, India, to supply protective, rigid panels to Ordnance Factory, India.

HELMETS FEATURING DYNEEMA® HB26 ARE CHOSEN BY SOUTH KOREAN ARMY AS LIGHTEST-WEIGHT SOLUTION FOR FRAGMENT PROTECTION

URMOND (NL), 20 October 2008 - To obtain the optimum combination of fragment-stopping performance and light weight, the Republic of Korea has selected protective helmets featuring Dyneema® HB26 material for its army. The 24,000 helmets, manufactured by Samyang Comtech in Seoul, offer up to 20 percent weight savings compared to conventional aramid helmets, together with a higher ballistics performance when using the v50 test. This significant program is a volume milestone for Dyneema® HB26 in a helmet application, and demonstrates the acceptance of the material based on its excellent fitness for use in helmets. To support growing demand for its ballistics protection materials, as evidenced by the South Korean Army’s large order, DSM Dyneema is on plan to significantly boost capacity for Dyneema® UD (unidirectional) composites used in life protection. Additional capacity in both yarn and UD (unidirectional) material has been brought on stream at its Greenville, North Carolina, facility. DSM Dyneema is on target to double global capacity for UD in 2009, as part of a USD $450 million investment announced earlier.

The Denver Police Department in Colorado is the first U.S. organization to adopt the new Protech Delta LT helmets. This model meets National Institute of Justice (NIJ) IIIA specifications and is 15 percent lighter in weight than comparable 100 percent aramid helmets. The Denver Police Department's selection of Protech helmets reflects the growing demand for Dyneema® UD in life protection materials. Additional capacity in both yarn and UD (unidirectional) material used in personal and vehicle protection has been brought on stream at its Greenville, North Carolina, facility. DSM Dyneema is on target to double global capacity for UD in 2009, as part of a USD 450 million investment announced earlier.

DSM DYNEEMA INVESTS IN GREATER CAPACITY TO SUPPORT MEDICAL DEVICE APPLICATIONS

URMOND (NL), 2 October 2008 - To help medical device companies develop new clinical approaches that improve patient outcomes, DSM Dyneema today announced a major milestone in its strategic plan to increase commitment by increasing manufacturing capacity & capabilities dedicated to Dyneema Purity®, a specially developed proprietary medical-grade ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber for use in medical applications where maximum strength and minimum weight are required. The company will create its first line for manufacturing Dyneema Purity® fiber at its Greenville, North Carolina facility. The line will produce the latest grades, including Dyneema Purity® TG dtex 25 TS180, which offers the same high specific strength as existing grades at significantly thinner diameters, and Dyneema Purity® UG, developed specifically to allow the development of strong, stable orthopedic implants that provide consistent performance over a longer term.
