DSM DYNEEMA RECEIVES RECOGNITION FOR INNOVATIVE CONTRIBUTION TO AQUACULTURE INDUSTRY

URMOND (NL), 22 August 2007 – The authoritative Nor-Fishing Foundation has recognized DSM Dyneema’s outstanding efforts in innovation in the contest for the official Innovation Prize 2007 held during the Aqua Nor event in Trondheim, Norway (August 14-17), where DSM Dyneema was proud to be runner up. The Innovation Prize was introduced in 2003 to encourage increased focus on innovation, efficiency improvement, quality assurance, enhanced profitability and protection of the environment and resources in the fishery and aquaculture industries.

Fish-farming nets made with Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber™, have made a significant impact on the aquaculture market because they help reduce the number of fish escapes and require less maintenance. Moreover, nets made with Dyneema® High Modulus PolyEthylene fiber weigh only one third of conventional nets and have smaller twines, which improves waterflow through the cage.

DSM Dyneema collaborates closely with leading manufacturers and fish farmers in the market to continuously improve net technology and bring innovative solutions that can be used all over the world.

A delighted André van Wageningen, Market Segment Manager Commercial Fishing, DSM Dyneema commented, “This award reflects the recognition of our efforts and our overall commitment to supporting and driving innovation in the aquaculture market. We could not have realised this without the close and ongoing collaboration we enjoy with our customers and other cooperative parties, and we look forward to continuing this work with them.”
