DSM Dyneema’s Dyneema® fiber to be featured as go-to ingredient for advanced, new ballistic armor solutions at SHOT Show 2016

Stanley, N.C., Jan. 12, 2016 - Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber, manufactured by DSM Dyneema, is the key component in a number of new ballistic armor solutions that will be introduced next week at SHOT Show 2016, Jan. 19-22 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

A new DSM Dyneema collaboration with leading armor manufacturer Renegade Armor (booth #8103), headquartered in Fredericksburg, Va., lead to the development of a ballistic vest design that is extremely tough, lightweight and offers greater flexibility than vests manufactured with traditional aramid fibers. The new vest, geared toward law enforcement professionals, will debut at the show and is available in two versions, one for men and one tailored specifically to the needs of female officers.

Additionally, Point Blank Body Armor (booth #11366), a leader in the ballistic protection industry based in Pompano Beach, Fla., will launch Alpha Elite Black, a new ballistic armor solution for law enforcement officers that features DSM Dyneema’s industry-leading Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology and is 10 percent lighter than the original Alpha Elite vest.

The Safariland Group (booth #12762), a top global supplier of law enforcement, security and sportsman products, headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., will also launch at SHOT Show an ultra-strong adhesive tape product based on Dyneema® GT-60 tape technology.

DSM Dyneema representatives will be on hand in these customers’ booths to discuss how the company’s high-performance Dyneema® fiber technology enhances ballistic armor products.

About DSM Dyneema

DSM Dyneema is the inventor and manufacturer of Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene (UHMWPE) fiber branded as Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber™. Dyneema® offers maximum strength combined with minimum weight. It is up to 15 times stronger than quality steel and up to 40% stronger than aramid fibers, both on weight for weight basis.
