Opportunities … and risks! EU enlargement and chemicals
EU enlargement presents opportunities and risks for the chemicals sector. Enlargement is one of the most important issues faced by the EU at the beginning of the 21st Century. For chemical makers the challenge lies in addressing the needs of new markets and of their position in those markets in the wider European context.
A highly focused workshop in Frankfurt on June 15 will give attendees the chance to hear first hand the views of economists, regulatory affairs experts and chemical and plastic producers on enlargement. Many dismiss the impact or say that European chemicals will not be affected. But case studies given at this event will highlight the opportunities for early investors in the new EU member countries and the opportunities presented to and by new private companies in the east.
‘Opportunities and the risk of enlargement’ is organised by Germany’s Chemical World Database (CWD) and the European Chemical Marketing and Strategy Association (ECMSA) with and on behalf of the VCI (Verband der Chemischen Industrie e.V.). The meeting is supported by CEFIC.
The seminar is a “hot topic” event for the organisers. Earlier meetings on the same theme have attracted a sell-out audience.
