Competitive Intelligence In Action

A Management Briefing and Workshop

The European Chemical Marketing & Strategy Association (ECMSA), EMP Intelligence Services and CIBT are joining forces in May to present a management briefing and workshop in Amsterdam on the changed European competitive intelligence scene. The briefing and workshop mirrors a successful event held in Birmingham, the UK, in September 2005. They are designed to help participants understand in greater detail the complex competitive background to the European chemical industry that involves regional players, global integrators and competitors from emerging markets. Chemical companies are often competing for share in markets in which growth is low or negligible and in which accurate competitive intelligence is vitally important.

The Competitive Intelligence Briefing is followed by a hands-on workshop from leading competitive intelligence practitioner, Andrew Pollard of EMP Intelligence Services. Pollard will challenge delegates’ thinking about Competitive Intelligence. At previous courses his approach been called “unique, entertaining, and challenging.”

This Management Briefing on 10 May will be to an invited audience of managers in the chemicals and plastics industry. Speakers include:

  • Rut Pianskool, Strategic Intelligence Manager, Shell Chemical - Making Sense of Unconventional Competitors: A Look at CI in the Middle East and Asia
  • Katherina Schulz-Schlotter, Competitive Intelligence Leader, Europe, Dow AgroSciences - Constructing the Competitive Intelligence Puzzle
  • Monika Giese, Head of Competitive Intelligence for a Global Pharmaceutical Company - The Challenge of Strategic CI: Lessons Learned
  • Andrew Pollard, Director and Senior Partner, EMP Intelligence Service - The Importance of the Human Factor in CI

This is the latest collaborative event from ECMSA, part of a series being held across Europe designed to address the strategic marketing challenges facing the chemicals industry. ECMSA brings together decision-makers from within the chemical industry, responsible for shaping and defining its future and direction. It is a not-for-profit organisation run by the industry, for the industry and committed to the growth and sustainable development of the sector.

EMP was founded in 1988 and has grown to become one of the most expert consultancies in competitive intelligence in the world. It has helped companies across a range of industries in Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, and North America.

CIBIT specialises in the areas of Knowledge Management, Information Management, Architecture & System Development. From its foundation in 1988, CIBIT has built a solid and international reputation for its focus on smart organisations.
