ECMSA presents ‘Scenarios in the Print and Read Value Chain of the Paper Market’

interactive workshop - 11-12 October 2006 - Stockholm

The paper industry and its upstream suppliers - especially the suppliers of chemicals to pulp and paper producers are confronted by commoditization, the insurgence of novel technology solutions and the consumers’ complete freedom of content delivery media choice.

In this context the competitive scene for European chemical companies has changed beyond recognition in a few short years. How, therefore can companies make money in this environment considering the complexity of the paper value chain?

The workshop will hear the results of a unique study of the print and read value chain, which has identified some key consumer value drivers and interpreted their impact on the demand for pulp and paper and suppliers to that value chain. The findings of this unique study will provide a number of scenario inputs as a basis for debate, discussion and further development which will be worked on during the workshop to consider and discover implications and opportunities for suppliers to this value chain.

The facilitated interactive scenario sessions will develop and explore several scenarios around the key survey findings, with specific emphasis on describing the implications and identifying winners, losers and market opportunities for pulp and paper producers and their raw materials suppliers. These insights should provide strategic direction to participants’ companies.

Our co-sponsoring partners, GEMS Europe GmbH and Third Eye FZ LLC have gained extensive hands-on experience in analysing the paper and print industry and their key suppliers, developing unique insights into the value chain. Delegates will be able hear the results of this analysis and benefit from participating in the further development of scenarios in this sector.
