Letter appointment Vincent Gugumus

Dear Editor,

In terms of communications, the year 2001 was important for Eastman's Specialty Plastics business. After establishing a first contact with many publications early in the year and a successful K-show, we are beginning to be recognised for our expanding range of performance materials and a number of interesting new applications.

Up until recently, all communications activities for Eastman's Specialty Plastics business were conducted by Manuel Linnig, who was also responsible for the communications of other Eastman businesses. As you may be aware, Manuel has now left the company and I have been appointed to succeed him.

Although I will be following in his footsteps, my job will be totally focused on the activities of Eastman's Specialty Plastics, a business I took care of in my previous assignments. As Manager Marketing Communications for the Specialty Plastics business organization in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, I will be reporting to Deborah Galloway, who is based in our head office in Kingsport, USA and heads our global marketing communications efforts. You may have met Deborah at the K-show recently.

I have worked in the industry for a number of years - most recently I was responsible for the French market and for Eastman's Specialty Plastics' activities. As such I have met a number of key Editors and I have enjoyed working with them in the past few years.

As 2002 approaches rapidly - and many of us in Europe are having to deal with a new currency and a weakening economy - I look forward to meeting you (again) and working with you in the New Year.
