Grendene uses Eastman’s Spectar® Copolyester for new point of purchase shoe display

CAPELLE A/D IJSSEL, THE NETHERLANDS - Transparency and high impact resistance were the main reasons behind Plano Trio’s, a design company, decision to use sheets made of Spectar® copolyester resin from Eastman Chemical Company when conceiving a POP display for Grendene’s point of purchase spots. The showcase has been used to display Grendene’s Rider shoes at sales spots in more than 85 countries around the world.

According to Márcio Gonçalves, a designer of Plano Trio, the company was highly-satisfied with the results achieved with sheets made of Spectar copolyester when using the vacuum forming process. "This raw material was first introduced to me during an event in São Paulo. We now have plans to create more parts with sheets made of Spectar copolyester in the future. The possibility of designing products with creative shapes combined with performance qualities such as transparency and good impact resistance, makes Spectar an exciting and interesting product for us", declares the merchandising designer.

This was the first time Grendene had used Eastman raw material in its pieces. As mentioned by the company's supply sector, responsible for the development and purchase of the materials, sheets made of Spectar copolyester offer also other important advantages including UV- protection and easy formability. This last advantage creates a lot of creative potential for designers when conceptualizing a new display.

Jefferson Garbelotti, Sales and Market Development Manager for Spectar in Brazil, explains the importance to Eastman of having large companies, such as Grendene, interested in using sheets made of Spectar copolyester. "We are, once more, commemorating the success of this raw material. Thanks to Plano Trio’s creativity we have the opportunity to display Rider shoes, which are manufactured by one of the most important companies of the shoe segment," ratifies the executive.

Pedro Fortes, general director of Eastman Chemical Company in Brazil, emphasizes the importance of this partnership, considering Grendene’s prominent position in the Latin American market, as well as on other continents. "The whole Eastman team is flattered by the knowledge that sheets made of Spectar copolyester can be found in sale spots for a Brazilian product that is highly-regarded around the world. Our thanks go to Plano Trio whose professionals had the vision and expertise to recognize the valuable qualities of our product."
